I dont think it was a nuke (no shock, power outage) but it surely was a bomb thats not supposed to be there. Are they exterminating ants or keeping peace? I hope at least the iraqi kids had fun watching this..

A bomb that wasn't supposed to be there ? What makes you think that? How are you sure that it was one bomb and not a group of them that cooked off at the same time?

It would mean that they had a massive ammount of mortars and small ammunition located there (explosions went on for hours) unlike the reports tell us. Also i find it strange that at first they clearly told us that this was not an iraqi attack and now the story goes that they were under mortar fire.

My brother is the civilian in charge of quality assurance(KBR) for Camp Falcon.
He was standing outside the concrete barriers when this was happening. His hooch and all his belongings were completely destroyed during this incursion (incidently he says a local with a mortar set this off from inside the camp). Because of this he is leaving Iraq early. He is currently at another camp living in a tent waiting on a new passport to leave the country. I have asked his wife to contact him for a comment on this. I will post what he says when recvd.

That certainly seems like something pretty big went up.

Somehow, I don't think that it would be easy to set off a tactical nuke. I also think that there would now be some radiation that could be deteceted.

This is the straight "poop" from Iraq.

"There's all kinds of misinformation on the internet about this. The
video is not from where I was, it was made a year ago in Tikrit. That's
the video that's on Youtube and Google. Also, there's bloggers saying
that 300 soldiers got killed and all kinds of wrong info. I was there.
No one got hurt or killed. I still haven't seen video of it, because the
stuff on the internet is not the video from FOB Falcon. "

This is from ny brother who was there as it happened!!!!!

I'll take first hand information any time I can get it. Glad no one was hurt. This isn't the first time that I have heard that this video was mislabeled as to where it came from.

You're kidding right, that would have to be the smallest nuke in the world.

Just a regular explosion, and not even a very big one at that, just a bright flash in the dark.

Very lame.

It seemed they were using a very sensitive night capable camera and it just made the brightness appear much stronger then what it really was. It was an Ammo dump that was on fire right?

Pie

Good point about the camera.
There would probably be effects on the camera sensor as well, if there were radiation involved. A blast of Gamma rays would have produced specs of light all over the sensors.

Someone earlier questioned me on the explosion being a low yield nuke, and why they didnt have contamination containment:
DU is also radio active yet no one wears protection........
Tanks have DU armor..... people in tanks have no protection......
They use them on the field then send people in and they never have protection..........
They are trying to cover their rears right now and having a massive area quarentined off would well lets say: blow the cover right off the top of the story in less than 0.05 seconds. Maybe about 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 miliseconds is all it would take and people would KNOW they are now WITHOUT QUESTIONS using these weapons against Iraqi's and this is why Falluja now has a gaping hole in it that looks like a nuke went off (lower right on the picture I saw that was arial).

Check out this video at the time 0.18 sec. Check what it does to the camera. Must be the smallest nuke ever!!!

Lets try this again...

A nuclear weapon is a device in which the criticality is uncontrolled. Unharnessed verses what it is in a Nuclear Reactor. When the device goes off or goes critical...reachs critical mass...there is no containment...it is open...the resulting immediate area radiation is very high depending on the yeild of the weapon and then also contamination due to the very process.

Now..DU devices are not a device which is in a state of criticality..critical mass...not going critical. Armor on tanks of the DU variety is not in a state of critical mass...understand yet.??

"Critical" is a term used in the buisness to denote when the material reachs the point where the chain reaction is usable or about to happen. This is not the case with DU material.

As to a gaping hole ..there is a gaping hole still over a hundred and forty plus years later at Petersburg Virginia ...the crater where the Union Army mined under the Confederate positions and packed thousands of pounds of black powder and set it off. You can do this with conventional explosives too.

As many of the other posters here have stated..it is not that easy to set off..even with conventional explosives.

And furthermroe..they are not stupid enough with such a unstable government and countryside to put nuclear weapons on land...in such a enviornment. ON a ship or submarine maybe..but not there.

There was a incident in the 1980s where a US Ballistic Missle submarine surfaced underneath a Japanese fishing trawler..punching a hole in the hull of the trawler. The ship sank with many lives lost. No way the US Navy is going to take on survivors of a mishap like this and put them in the presence of our nuclear weapons. They are certainly not going to do so in Iraq.

Please try more emotions..on this thread...take some lessons from Cindy Sheehan.
You are bottom scraping in your attempt to get your uninformed view to prominance. Once again it is very emotional..congratulations.

Thanks,
Orangetom

That wasn't a tactical nuke.

Fist off - if it was - the EMP would have taken out the street lights and the video camera as well.

Secondly - it wasn't that bright - that was a low quality film. When a nuke goes off it is like daylight - not a bright flash.
