I know this kinda short sided..But to all of you who insist on owning a BMW and Benz and ALSO insist that the companies still have no ties to the nazi party...Well open wide cause the Nazi link is STILL alive and well in the name of the Quandt family of Germany. I will spare those who have stood stronge that by purchasing these auto makers you were not supporting a still very buried but alive nazi movement the smear of crapolla on the face. So hears your sign www.h-net.org...
And year to date Via page 73 Business Week,October 16th,2006 "If it weren't for a bailout by Germany's wealthy Quandt Family-still the contolling shareholder, with a 46.6% stake - and a pact with labor to keep the company afloat, BMW wouldn't exist today". Badda bing a badda boom there you have it.

There you have what? How does being rich and german mean that they are nazis? Could you at least try to explain? The paper you linked to notes that that family was around long before the nazis were, does it mean that they're really agents of the Kaiser? Or perhaps of the hohenzollerhens?

Did you even read this? Hello....Guenthe Quandt and sons "ALL" played significant independent roles in the Third Reich..What in the blue blazes are you talking about this only proves they were around long before the Nazi's. Thats like saying the Bush family has nothing to do with the American governement.

Ok, lets try again. What does their having been invovled with a popular government that had lots of business deals internationally, and controlled all business within the state of germany for those years, have to do with being a nazi now? Did you read the paper? It says that Quandt didn't like the nazis from the start and gave them money to ensure he was protected from them.

Capitalists have always "hedged their bets" by supporting whatever faction is in power at the time. It is a slimey practice known as, "Business".

Though the supposed Nazi connection does afford a somewhat more sinister explaination to the jack-boot click and hearty "Hiel" greeting I recieve from my mechanic whenever I take my "Funf-er" BMW in for service!

Das ist nicht gut!

As someone who has test driven many many different cars, as well as one of my family owning both a Mercedes Benz E Class and BMW 3.330ci I have to say, BIG DEAL.

BMW make some of the absolute best cars in the world, no doubts about it, they are safe, handle well, the engines purr sublimely and the response is one that really revs my engine, forgive the pun.

I think more pressing is the Bush families ties to Nazism during WW2, that is more important than some wealthy Germans bailing out BMW in order to help the economy and the German workers.

If I could afford one, the new Twin Turbo BMW 3 Series Coupe would be the No.1 car at the top of my to buy list, I'm not going to stop being a fan of BMW because somewhere back along the line some of the shareholders were a bunch of Jerks.

Truly, the most important thing when purchasing a car is safety for you and your family, and BMW provides this in abundance, as well as style.

Quandt divorced a wife of half his age, and she had a couple of escapades and shacked up with Goebbels.

So? If anything that means that Quandt would want less to do with the Nazis, with his ninny of an ex-wife hooked up with them. And it'd mean that he has more to fear from them, as she might use them to hurt him.

If we want nazi connections to BMW, all we need to do is look at their symbol.

Its supposed to be the propellors of a military plane, spinning with the bright blue sky behind it.

Everything in germany at that time was run by the state and for the state, thats what nazism, nationalism and socialism, was, the state above everything else. Its hardly sinister or surprising that a rich old family from the days of the kaiser was tied in with the nazi regime. The people that weren't tied in with the regime were sent to the camps or shot in their homes.

I understand what you're saying entirely... but do you honestly believe that posting on abovetopsecret is going to immediately make everyone in America stop buying Mercedes or BMW's because the biggest shareholder was/is a Nazy family? The world is controlled by arseholes and will be for a long time. Mercedes and BMW's are damn good cars... but, what i'm questioning is the fact that you don't talk badly about VW. Did you know that Adolf Hitler was the man who started VW? VW sure has the friendly image today, and should- so what who started it.

Don't worry man- the bad people in power today have it set up so that anything you do- unless you want to be homeless or dead- will make them money.

You don't have to worry about the Nazis getting the money when you buy a new Benz or Merc. jalopnik.com...#!372339/who-owns-who check it out and you will find that the same person gets your money no matter what you buy.

Nearly all new cars sold today are re-birthed older cars. Don't believe me? Then I offer the following example: Mercedes Benz 2001 CL180k W203. Now open Wikipedia and search for Mercedes C-Class. Have a look at the photo's of W203 and W204 shape, read the two lines about the release date of the W204 coupe and then tell me why in Australia on carsales.com.au there are a heap of 2010 CLC200k W203 coupes for sale. Notice that they have combined the sedan and coupes on carsales so you dont realise there are so few old sedans for sale, probably why the new C-Class sedan looks sooo much like the old one.

This is happening with pretty much every car on the road. Consider all the Tsunami damaged cars from Japan, Australia's bizzare flooding and plenty of places in Europe. All the burnt cars in Iraq and Libya are good candidates for rebirthing also. It's is happening with trucks and busses and maybe even military vehicles???

My guess is that the same people who controll HAARP own the motor industry. How did this happen? Read my post in the time travel forum for more enlightenment!

If you are still sceptical, open youtube and search for "cars in flood" and you will see plenty of candidates for re-birthing.

Dr. Ferdinand Porsche founder Porsche and VW, The Maybach, Benz and Daimler families all had ties to Nazi Germany and all families have since condemned the actions of the Riech.

What no one realizes is that every single one of these families had to swear allegiance to The Riech or else guess what? They would've been crushed and eliminated by now. They did what they did to survive.

VW, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz and BMW all helped Germany recover financially after the collapse of The Riech to the point where VW/Porsche, Daimler, AG, BMW are right now Germany's top 3 exports.

BMW's colours are also the same as the state flag of Bavaria (which is what the B stands for). I won't say the propeller thing's false because I've not heard of that one before, but the blue-white state colours are another as-likely explanation.

As for the OT: Wouldn't the underground secret-squirrel Nazi movement prefer to just keep the money rather than bail-out a business that can't have been making too much for them if it had to be bailed-out to begin with? That's the best I can do toward humouring this idea tbh...
