I've recently been thinking about this, and I'm wondering
what others think.

If you love someone, like true love, how far should you be
willing to go, like how much should you be willing to sacrifice?

Is there a universal limit, or is it a person by person thing?

What are your thoughts on it, and how far would you go/ how
much would you sacrifice for the one you love?

I myself would do next to anything, including breaking any law,
and even give my life for the one I love, but that's just me.

This topic is, to me, intimately related to that hypothetical question: If you were trapped in a cage, and your friend was trapped in a cage but you couldn't see them.. each of you has a button you may press at any time. If you press the button, you die but your friend lives and is set free, and vice versa. If you both press it at the same time you both die, and if neither one presses it, well, you're stuck.
Do you press the button?

If a person becomes my Friend, then I'd die to save their life without a second thought. (this is why I do not keep many friends, as, invariably, they have more drama in their life than I in mine! However, each of my Friends knows that this is the case, and I know that they feel the same.)

When it comes to my sweetie... I know he's a good person, trustworthy, and generally worthy of anything and everything I can do. So long as (to use a Russian saying) 'his roof hasn't slipped too far forward'... meaning, gone completely looney and has no use of logic or reason, I'll do everything in my power. (Of course, if he lost all his marbles, I'd help him pick 'em all back up!)

I'd say person by person each one of us is unique

If I truly loved someone with every ounce of my being I'd die for them give up everything for them.

Imo, it is how much you value your happiness. There are people who have completely blinded themselves over an unaccomplishable dream and believe that that will bring them true happiness. For me, I would burn forever in the pit if the one that I loved was there.

I won't give what I won't get back. (and it took a while before I learned that lesson)

simple as that.

and it's a person to person thing. we all decide what to give of ourselves.

(it also depends on how you define 'love'.....which is a looong topic for another day)

I myself would gladly give my life for someone I know I loved with everything I had. Family, friends, it doesnt matter. If it came down to it I think everyone here would die for someone or something they love(in the true sense). If youre not willing to risk it all for someone/something, then you dont love him/her/it. Just my thoughts.

Reality isn't kind. Every individual person is a walking fantasy, with their own idea of love and happiness. Dreams can corrupt or enlighten the fantasy, depending on the dream.

Say what you want, but it's better to keep your expectations low. It means less pain for you. What goes up always comes down, no exceptions.

I just want my sunshine to be happy. I've often thought that that will mean me breaking things off so my melancholy doesn't affect her. Love is ineffable, the hardest thing to describe in the universe, primarily becase of its totally subjective nature.

I'm with you iori, I'd give my pleasure, my happiness and my future to ensure that she has a wonderful life full of the things I want her to experience.

To those who wouldn't give up the remote control, let alone your life; I don't think you have experienced the intoxicating thrill of true love and the warmth of security, friendship and experiences that it offers.

If I truely love a man, yes, I would give my life to save him. But go to jail...no! No one is worth acting stupid for.

I would never fight a female for a man because if he hasn't picked me as the one and only then I don't need him.

I have a grown son, and I love him no matter what. It is called unconditional love. No matter what he does, I will love him. All his life he has shown me respect and love. I can't believe some of the kids these days that talk back to parents or even fight with them. My son never said hurtful things to me, or Ever raised a hand to me. If you treat your kids with respect and love, it will be returned. We had an agreement when he was a teenager. I got him a car he loved and the agreement was no curfew. If he came home at a reasonable hr and if he was going to be a little late to call me so I would not worry, he would be trusted. If he abused it, I would take the car and sell it. LOL, he never abuse my trust in him.

Now I want to meet a man that I can trust like that. Some one that I don't have to check up on. Someone that I know will not cheat on me just because someone is willing to do it. Someone that thinks about me when I am not there and can't wait to get home to be with me. Oh well, maybe some day I will meet him. Until then, I am pretty much happy on my own. I have a house, a car and enough money to live on. I want a man that is happy already but wants to share his happiness with me.
