A hand dryer that uses "blades" of air and bacteria-killing filters is
more effective and hygienic than conventional drying machines,
its inventors claim.

Conventional hand dryers use a heater and a motorised fan to eva-
porate water from a person's hands.
The Dyson dryer uses a motor to force unheated air through two thin
slots at 640 kilometres (400 miles) per hour.
These jets form so-called "air blades" that force water off a user's
hands, as they slowly withdraw them past the blades.

"The Airblade scrapes your hands clean with a high speed sheet of
air," Dyson says: "It's a bit like a windscreen wiper."
The process also takes just 10 seconds, instead of the 30 to 40 sec-
onds needed when using a normal dryer.

I don't know, it's cool and all, but the prosepct of having blades
of winds being fired at 400mph at my hands, not so appealing.

With an 80% reduction in energy consumption I can see those puppies selling like hotcakes.

Besides, I can't stand the ones they have now where you stand there for five minutes then wipe your hands dry on your pants.

I tend to wipe my hands dry on my pants, with or without a dryer.

This should be interesting. I wonder though... sure it can remove the water nice and quick... but what does it do for bacteria?

geez, I wasn't sure if it was drying his hands, or the demonstration was in an airport with a jet taking off.

BTW, this "invention" sure seems a lot like Mitsubishi's Jet Towel.

I don't know why, but I have a urge to use on of them 'air blade' machines! Might feel nice
