They should launch it from the Yahoo building in case it does work ... then the aliens will go directly to them. Then they will have a bigger user base...that's what they are after anyway right?

U know it Elab:
All yahoos base are belong to them.

Cool, but we only have 26 days left.

and counting...have you guys clicked on the exclamation point on the yahoo logo on their page...haha it's a treat.

Hmmm, seems folks do communicate with lasers in a meaningful way. Actually Yahoo may be on to something here... perhaps beyond novelty. LOL.

Some folks are taking the "method" rather than the "message" very seriously here's a couple of links for those who wish to look.

Research Horizons: The Aerospace Corporation link,

Lightpoint Communications: laser web - multi-GB:

The Laser Internet Company in UK,

And from the IEEE themselves: Volume 6 Number 12 Dec 2005 What's new Article, Item 11, Which oddly enough was an advance warning of the recent Intels laser on chip.

Lasers everywhere... I feel lighter already... in the wallet mostly. LOL.

Maybe a beacon is doable... for a time. Light does travel and can be encoded and decoded... would it be worth it? Beyond novelty? Maybe.

I thought we had been sending radio waves into the skies on a global scale since the invention of the radio, seems to me a better way of showing life is there?

True for nearly a century we've been sending out radio waves, but
there incredibly weak on a galactic scale, and not spherical, and they
degrade as they travel.

If this laser was powerful enough, and was pointing at a tranceiver,
it could actually work.

Very nice links. It's funny how our species develop these technology as if we knew of it before. It's all coming together people. Apparently there is a cosmic wave coming our way are you ready? It's going to be a entirely new form of consciousness.

"Cosmic wave occurring on Oct 17th is that it is a magnifier and accelerator of thought to matter"

Well we did know about them before we built them, I mean how
else do you build something?

The concept of laser communication has been around since the
nineteenth century, in fact a photonograph, or something like
that was made, it just was'nt very useful for massive scale

The only time L/Maser communication is actually useful is for
intraship or close non-time sensitive communication.

Apparently the Yahoo laser deal started "out-casting" on Wednesday from new Mexico... they are nothing if not persistent. A CBC News link.
