Hmmm, seems folks do communicate with lasers in a meaningful way. Actually Yahoo may be on to something here... perhaps beyond novelty. LOL.
Some folks are taking the "method" rather than the "message" very seriously here's a couple of links for those who wish to look.

Which oddly enough was an advance warning of the recent Intels laser on
Lasers everywhere... I feel lighter already... in the wallet mostly. LOL.
Maybe a beacon is doable... for a time. Light does travel and can be encoded and decoded... would it be worth it? Beyond novelty? Maybe.
