Lisinopril recall, starting in Panama

Topic started on 9-10-2006 @ 02:11 PM by St Udio

The high blood pressure medication Lisinopril

produced by several pharmaceutical corps.
seems to be the one common element shared among +30 people in Panama
who have died in the last month.

see: www.alertnet.org...

i'm not saying that Panama is being used as a 'test lab'
for this strange disease, which may somehow spring up after using the
specific hypertension drug 'Lisinopril'

but this seeming small outbreak of +30 deaths, 11 more in starting stages,
out of a population of 7,000 persons known to be on the medication through
the Panamanian public health care..... could be a cause for Alarm in the future

plus that this specific drug is of high interest to my extended family
is reason for this post...plus any one here or related to ATS posters
who might be taking the medication should be aware that the
drug is an issue, and to be alert for any of the symptoms as told in the article

I'm in the process of e-mailing the VA Pharmacy/Medical offices,
even though this is news from 6 October 2006...& todays the 9th

you never know just Who Did or Who Did Not get a head's up

heads up ya'll

Thanks for the heads up! I've been on Lisinopril for 5 years now, no problems, Thanks goodness. The article does say that the suspected Lisinopril was made in South America, so I think it's OK here in America. But it's good to be warned about these things, just in case. Good find.

Anyone know if this drug would be listed under another name? i.e brand name vs. generic?

I took it for a while but the noted side effect of the dry cough make me quit it.
