Oh I know that beleive me I have dabbled what I am concerned about is the effects on the Alzeimers sufferer - I know cannabis can be used and not abused but it is easy to become reliant on it. How often would the drug or joint(?) have to be taken to help Alzeimers ?

It's something I'm interested in having lost my grandad and other family to the disease.

Cannibinoids wont really help someone who already has alzheimers... It helps in PREVENTING alzheimers...

But would it help with the --- should we say - behavior problems that can be a major problem with Alzheimer's patients. Heck if they were happily high off in a corner and quiet and got a better appetite because of it -- what would be wrong with that. I could be a lot better than the zoned out (from heavy meds) drooling people you see strapped in to their chairs or wheelchairs in many hospitals and nursing homes.

Physical Addiction... No, Mental Addiction... Possible. The reason it will never be legalized is because it generates too much money being illegal and funding black-ops. Plus there is no way for the government to sell it because you can grow and smoke it just as easily as you could buy it. If the govt. can't control it they won't make it legal. Considering the drug trade is a bigger industry than the oil industry, I don't see pot ever becoming legal.

It's sad really because time and time again Dr.'s are showing the medical benefits of marijuana use.

I don't care what anyone says. I have permanent brain damage, resulting in seizures, extreme memory problems, heart and lung problems, circulatory problems, problems with speech and hallucinations, all because of a 'harmless' plant.

I won't say if I consumed it or not, and if I DID consume it it wouldn't have been that much, but it has caused me MAJOR problems that merit the need for medication for the REST or my LIFE.

Marijuana is an EVIL, EVIL plant.

If it becomes legalized then the world will surely crumble.

Don't tell me that it is a preventative measure for alzheimers.

Don't even attempt it.

Sorry that it caused you so many problems, have never heard of it do that my self. But I'll say this, it saved my mom when she went through chemo. Evil plant? Not in my eyes.

I don't think marijuana will ever be legalized, now matter how many studies come out reporting the benefits of it's use.

There's a good chunk of American voters who wouldn't know the difference between marijuana and drugs like cocaine and heroin. I'd wager that if a lot of them even heard of this study they would fail to take it anymore seriously than if they heard a news brief about meth being a geat weight-loss drug.

Another problem is that the pro-legalization crowd doesn't have much of a voice. Sure, there's groups like NORML and whatnot, but supporting such groups and being vocal about it, especially it being illegal, will almost certainly label you as a participater in said illegal activity, and nobody wants to look suspicious, or comprimise their career, or worst of all, get arrested. It's really not an appealling idea for those of us who support legalization, but don't use it. And for those who do, they're paranoid enough as it is

Marijuana is a drug that is bad for you mentally and spiritually. It is not a gateway drug, it is the most common drug. Marijuana should be legalized to stop drug-related violence. Areas like Amsterdam have less drug activity sized down percentage wise than the entire US, and has less crime as well. Stay away from drugs.

Will this ever happen? No, drugs are big business. And when I mean big, I mean rivaling that of war profits. Add in the fact that we've been spoon-fed misleading data for the past two decades, and that adds up to propoganda for pro-drugs. Keeping drugs illegal is a pro-drug/pro-violence standpoint.

Unless you have a police state and keep drugs illegal, keeping drugs out of the people's hands and keeping drug violence minimal is impossible.

Where is the outcry for legal drugs? Pharm. companies anyone?

Excuse me but what were you smoking? did you buy the stuff or grow it yourself? if it's the latter you probably know the rest. As for 'evil plant', what about illegalising every kind of poppy seed, be they harmless or not, just because some variants lend themselves for heroin production. nonsense.

I remember seeing a report on this about 5-6 years ago. I think there was a big cover-up by BIG anti-tobacco, because I have heard nothing else. Not one peep!

Remember Big Anti-tobacco advocates, BIG anti-oil advocates and BIG anti-Wal-Mart advocates don't hate these particular things. They hate capitalism!

I think marijuana should not be abused. I think it should be legalised, but too a limited extent, but also a further extent other than medical prescription.

i must mention a valid point 99% of americans fail to recognize who wish to make marijuana legal, do so for selfish purposes of wanting to get high, the biggest benefit to legalization is ending "CORRUPTION".....a famous Nobel prize economist by the name of Morton Friedman once presented a proposition to legalize marijuana to provide 20-30billion dollars a year to the government....the only difference? shifting the power from an illegal power to a legal power would render much of todays crime obsolete so to say. there would be hardly any crime, damages, or people getting hurt/abused over the sale and distribution of the product. back in the early 1900's a drug abuser was not a criminal but mores so a little morally/ethically lacking, now there labeled as a threat to society. MLK once made it clear to the Americans of this country that we have a moral responsiblity to disobey unjust laws, laws that label us as criminals for the use of such a 'narcotic'.....how the hell alcohol is legal i dont know(ya ya i know its all 'bout money and politics)...but if alcohol can be taxed and governed than so can marijuana. you dont ever find someone saying "cocaine or heroine has so many health benefits", so i see marijuana as a safe choice. limitations must include not using at work like alcohol, ill be damned if i let my accountant handle a dime(.10USC ;-) )when he is high.

people who abuse any drug weather it be cough syrup or marijuana are not commiting a crime and are not criminals, they simply lack some education/knowledge on moral/ethical well being.

another point friedman reminded the government was that all the money that goes towards arresting and jailing marijuana possesion is simply useless and a waste based on the fact.....when a murdered gets put away another one doesnt come to rise to take his position/territory....whereas you arrest a drug dealer, it simply gives oppurtunity to another corrupt individual to take his place. take the power away frm the druglords who are never arrested and takeup all our tax dollars in a futile attempt to end drugs.
