just a thought, probably pretty obvious to anyone who knows of astrology

think of world leaders when you look at the positive and negative traits at the bottom (maybe they are not satanists but saturnists)

Saturn: Limitation of Life

Saturn also serves Man in the role of Satan the Tempter. When the vibrations of Saturn-Satan combine with an egocentric personality, people often trade (the state of being associated with) their Souls for material possessions and temporal powers. In this respect Saturn is symbolic of the structure of values which lead to evolutionary growth. Thus Saturn is the "bridge" between the forces of universal consciousness--the extra-Saturnian planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) and the forces of material existence and the personal Serf--the inter-Saturnian planets.

PRINCIPLE: STRUCTURE AND CONSOLIDATION

Saturn is the Teacher who says: "Listen, my young friend. Before you can go on to the sixth step in your growth, you must grasp the essence of the fifth step. In order to expand your consciousness or material worth or social positions, you must first learn the structure of the Laws of the Universe, the principles of economics, and the patterns of the culture in which you live."

FUNCTION IN THE NATAL CHART

Saturn has been much maligned through a misunderstanding of its purpose. It has been called the "greater malefic" and, like Satan, has been made the scapegoat of Man's unregenerate energies. But Saturn and Satan are simply the forms projected by the temptations of the lower self. It is by generating enough strength to overcome such temptations through self-discipline and the limitation and redirection of desire that the evolutionary progress occurs.

This concentration on polarity--"God" versus "Satan," "good" versus "evil"--only strengthens disharmony. One of Man's tasks is to enter upon a plane of consciousness which is free of duality, so that he may see the unity and harmony in the structure of the Universal Plan. Then he will understand that the apparent dichotomy between so-called good and evil is just a tool which may lead to a state of perfect balance transcending both poles. In this respect Man must understand the function of Saturn in the horoscope.

In a more pragmatic sense, Saturn forces the fulfillment of obligations and responsibilities, so that personal growth may occur. Its position by sign, House, and aspect points the way to these necessary lessons and the degree and nature of self-discipline or its lack.

In the physical body Saturn rules the skin, knees, teeth, and bones and is closely connected with the organs of hearing.

ASTROLOGICAL AFFINITIES AND BASIC CHARACTER TRAITS

positive / negative
helpful limitations / needless restraints
understanding of structure / too much calculation
self-discipline / a certain "tightness"
common sense / a lack of human feelings

Saturn, in respect, to what was known to the most ancient of telescopes, this was the farthest visible planet in what was considered the known Universe for a very long time.

Any personification in respect to such an object should be taken with a grain of salt.

Any thoughts?

Toltec - slight correction. The following planets were known to the ancients: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Also if you believe in astrology than perhaps the post does make sense. But since I do not follow the dictates of astrology (there is a specific Biblical prohibition against it), I cannot attest to the accruaccy of the astrological information presented.

Thanks Jadg, correction noted and made to reflect my true intent in presenting the post

Saturn is only Saturn because we humans named it Saturn after the Roman name for the Titan that gave birth to Jupiter, Hera, Neptune, Pluto, and one other.

Anyways, if we wanted to call it Akilo, it would be called that. But we call it Saturn.
