And here's some new research about bisphosphonates - used often in osteoporosis, paget's disease, and to stop bony metastasis of cancers.

So, they work....but.....you can get osteonecrosis of the jaw as result of this. Which no-one really knows about because it's pretty new. And a lot of dentists (and not very many physicians) don't know about it.

On the plus side, they're suing the drug companies, not the oral surgeons or dentists, but still, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

I, for one don't really think it's that large of an issue. Notice that the most
affected (very minor percentage) already were DX'ed with Osteoporosis.
This lends a tendency to bone-related issues, in general.
So I don't sound like I'm shooting from the hip, (pun intended), I have
Avascular Necrosis. Nearly the same disease as OsteoNecrosis. Well, they are the same.
Mine was DX'ed as ideopathic. I rolled 2 six-sided dice and got 13.
I'm 39, and have bilateral THR's. Both knees have been scoped to repair
tissue damage.
This hasn't really altered my life. I still work 40+ hours a week as a heavy
equipment mechanic.
Seems the lawsuit liberals have just brought another class-action scare to the
public.
Sad, really.
