Wow am I ignorant.

The boolean search is horrible for use though.

Wel apart from all the godie-two-shoes stuff that you have to be,
you also have to work for the CIA, NSA, MI-5 or the equivalent
thereof.

[That's a joke ladies & Gentlemen.]

But yeah, everything you have to be has already been mentioned.

It would have been funnier if you didn't say it was a joke..

Anyways..can I become a mod?

Ok there we go..that dismisses me..I didn't want the job anyway

Yeah, but we have to many, shall we say 'Gullible' newer
members who would'nt understand I was joking.

And the last thing we need is more people accusing ATS of
being a government run organisation.

It's warm whipping cream laced with atomized gold dust. You have NO idea how difficult it was for me to atomize my wedding band. Beating it into a huge sheet was bad enough, but building a laser and collecting the resulting dust was pure Hell.

So, you're saying I don't get the job?

If so, I just beat down a mod..look at that ownage

If you give me a job to prove me wrong, you may have just walked into my trap once again.

Either way, I win

Mwahahaha

I have brought down the all mighty ATS dictatorship MWAHAHAHAHAHA

You mods are a dictatorship ya know..

Think about it..

Your administration is more secure from over-throw than the United States government

ATS is'nt a dictatorship.

Technically it's a Benevolent Triumvirate dictatorship.

If you're looking for something that is over 3 months old, the default, you have to change it manually. That's usually where I've gone wrong.

I prefer the term 'Junta' - far more militaristic and South American

Oh man, I hardly wait to start "bumping" people out of the chat room -- just because I can ! (Hail NERDLING))

Speaking Of The Boolean Search

I used it to find this:

How To Become A Mod On ATS

The boolean search has a sort of "step" in the learning curve, but once I got the hang of it, I almost never use the Google option now, because the boolean search goes straight to the database, and really allows fine-tuning of a query.

Getting back to modhood, this question comes up now and then, and while the details may vary, the answers are usually the same.

As for the ATS system of government, I prefer to think of it as a Meritocratic Oligarchy.

Our ways may seem harsh to the uninitiated, but at least the trains run on time.

Even if you hate the search function, there's always the tagging that you can use to search.

Plenty of threads to choose from, covering various aspects of modding

For the record, what it takes is:
a sense of humor
a sense of fairness

During my first year or so here, I was asked to become a Mod twice & turned it down both times...

...BTW, I never asked about it beforehand...

Hmmm...Does this mean you're not married anymore? Are you available?
Ooops! I'm not available because I never atomized my wedding band...

Well, ATS doesn't have any Constitution or anything that requires any kind of specific method of rulership (Simply a sense of good taste, need to control Trolls, abiding by the T&C imposed by the server that handles the site, etc).
Even the US Founding Fathers realized before writing the Constitution that every Democracy that they've seen in history always turned into some form of Tyranny anyway; That's why they formed the US as a Republic government. America never should have become a Democracy & should never promote the idea of "spreading Democracy" either.
ATS just happened to skip the Democracy stage & went right to Tyranny to cut out all the BS in between those stages...

BTW, I get the Edit button for this post, but still didn't get one for my last post...Is there some kind of "timeout" on the Edit button that I missed earlier?

Just a conspiracy I cooked up to further convince you to take that "Mod position", if you are ever asked again.

Oh well, not all the fish can be caught with a net, maybe a nice lure will work.

I realy don't agree with the "never ask" rule!. nothing is wrong on some one that wants to became a day a ATS mod. this is like i wish all my live to go in the Army, but i never go ask for that to a recruitment center!, for sure they will never came knock on my door asking if i wish to be a militare!
same here...if any one can never asks or show his wish to me a mod here, that's is kind of frustrating. it's not a crime at all.

I think the moust fair solution can be to all the ones that want to became one one day, to say that using the complaint fucntion, alowing ATS staff to have a personal list with all the interested guys. they can after that analizyng that "candidates" actitudes in the forum, and when in needing times, just invite one of them.

Just my 2 cents.
