I just resently watched the news; Russian officers released after their arrest by the Georgian authorities on accusations of espionage. Russia pulled out all its personel except the military base and the peace keeping force there. Putin proceeded to say that if Georgia thinks they are under the protecting roof of other countries (US and EU would be probably what he means here since georgia is always trying to hid behind them, and also Ukraine who is close allies with georgia) they are wrong. Putin called this course of action from the Georgian president and act of terrorism (according to russian law this allows military interventon), and all mail and travel from Russia to Georgia was stopped. The situation changed almost instantly and the prisoners were released.

I'm just looking for comments, oppinions, and any further information anyone might know on the subject.

Just heard more on the subject; the officers were interviewed and this is what one of them had to say. He was approached in the airport befor being seased by a young man asking him to take a parcel from him to Moscow. The officer said no. He later observed befor being seased that the young man did not approach anyone else with the request which leaves room for some speculation such as - it's possible that something was in that parcel to provocate the arrest of the officer and give more reasons to detain him. All the officers stated that their treatment by the captors was anything but according to that which applies to a prisoner. Also in the trial that was comming up their lawyers constantly tried to provocate them with anti-russian slogans and that one of them observed that one of them had a confesion which was under his name already ready befor he ever wrote one. The officers said the trial was set up to make them guilty. Georgia must have thought that all the issues would be over once they released the prisoners, but their troubles are just beggining. Seems like Russia did something it hasn't done for a long time and that is; show that Russians will not leave Russians behind anymore.
