Many of the people who rely on welfare and social security are drug addicts, or their problems are drug-related. These people are among the biggest drains on the economy, with prison, welfare checks going to drugs etc. What I don't here much of is how to help these people witht their problem. Putting so much money into a system in which a safety net is put in place for those who have no way do be saved is ridiculous.

Why can I speak so bluntly? Me and many of my family members are recovering drug addicts. I know how this works. And I'm not just talking about stereotyping, its not just a black crack problem. Its also a white meth problem, a black meth problem, a problem in general. But thats a different thread.

Why am I reformed? I got help. To many of these people get no help. To the best of my knowledge there is no direct drug free/welfare check tie in. To some extent its just feeding money direct to the south of the border. And the money thats being fed is welfare money.

A two year welfare work plan? Sure, sounds great, now there are two sources of income for drugs I can have for two years, and when that ends, I can still get my welfare check.

Democrats put out a "solution" for society's ills. What they, and everyone needs to do is look at the disease

Labels are killing this country's unity.

We all pay taxes. We all get a say in how our money should be spent. They are going to take that money from us one way or the other. If they don't get it from Social Sercurity they'll just pass it on to the states and our property taxes and sales taxes will go up. (Just like what has happened with the bush tax cut) If this about being over taxed there is nothing any of us can do about that. If your arguement is--they are wasting my money--then maybe you should check out the corporate subsidies our government gives to industry. Cutting social programs won't stop waste and it won't lower your taxes.

The money that goes into the system for these programs comes right back to our system. If we take away social sercurity and medicare we unleash a steadily growing burden on society. The elderly. The way it stands even the elderly support our systems through their tiny checks and dependance on medication.

We have real problems in this country, and all I hear is complaints no one says what they will do about the elderly or the disabled or the poor children whose fathers have deserted them and left the mother to try to do the job of two. I'm open to suggestions. But as it stands all these things drag our economy down.

So I guess my question is what would you do about these things if you end social sercurity, medicare, and medicaid.

TC, what's the matter? I hit to close to your fundementalist heart?

Takin' too much damage?

So, you give your old things to charity and that makes you feel benevolent? You really don't have to SEE those people tho. You don't have to talk to them, tho. You have no idea what those people go through or how they got there.

And, don't you get a tax write off for giving to charities?

Well, I give to the homeless in person and I talk to them (if they're not crazy or running a scam---some do)....

And I don't write it off on my taxes. No one knows but me, the homeless guy, and God.

Let me clue you on a few things. First off, you haven't a clue to whom you speak, so don't even try to guess with that dimwitted little brain what and how much I give and to whom I give.
So, you hang out with the homeless on the street corner, listen to whatever tale they give you and then you give them your change for the entertainment they gave you? I'm not impressed. I used to be stupid, too, giving cash to people on the street, thereby feeding their addiction. I have since gotten smarter and take them to restaraunts and eat with them, picking up the tab. At least that way I know they have gotten a meal to go along with the booze morons like you pay for.

It's not surprising that you'd get suckered by people, though, as you are a blind liberal.

As far as my taxes, as if that was any of your business (Of course, as a liberal, you actually do think my money is your business, don't you?) I don't keep track of any receipts well enough to use them, so no, I don't get any benefit from it. Again, none of your business, though you think my money is your money to spend and give away.

As far as Saph, reread my post. Or should I tell you to read it to begin with. Or should I say, find someone to help you read. Merely because I do not choose to respond to Saphie the I way do your miserable self doesn't mean I've taken any damage, as you say. Saphie, unlike your miserable, lying, thieving hide, is a wonderful, caring, loving human being that personifies all that which I think is good in humanity, and I will not talk to her other than with the respect she deserves. So don't even try and act like you are on her team. You aren't man enough to carry her lunch, pal, much less be on that lady's team.

Besides that point, the decent isnt something new. It has been gradual over time.

True...Ever since Nixon was forced to step down in disgrace, it became *public knowledge* that the government was corrupted all the way up to the top of the heap. But what irks me the most is WHY HASN'T THE PUBLIC DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT FOR THIS LONG??!!

BTW, the only vote I've ever put in for more than 20 years now is "No Confidence"...So nobody can blame *me* for any of the political mess...

Jezebel, it seems you've been reading my posts a lot...You've pretty much what I've been saying for months already...That's the truth that everybody seems to ignore when they get caught up in partisan politics where *all* sides have been screwing over the public for generations.

Neither party is going to give them back, so how will this be fixed?

1: The American Citizens are going to have to get rid of all of the career politicians that have ursurped the chairs of power in the government. Further, the government itself will need a lot of serious "downsizing" & trim the government's powers back to Constitutional levels.

2: The Federal Reserve & all unconstitutional legislation that they've pushed through must be annulled...If you take a look at NESARA, you'll see that a way to get us off this "credit-based" economy (that has no real solid backing at all) & onto an economy that actually *has* some value is already been designed & it's in operation. That'll get the (privately owned) international banking consortiums off of our backs.

P.S. It's not like I haven't been saying stuff like this in literally dozens of threads for the past few *months* already...

Actually, I'm predicting that Bush will either make sure the election is rigged or bought to keep him in Office...Or he'll let another terrorist attack (Perhaps like the attacks that might happen during this *current* Muslim holiday in which Islamics in 3 major American cities are being warned to evacuate *right now*) get through & push for the Victory Act & Martial Law (Which will effectively make him into the dictator that he *said* that he wishes he were & suspend any following elections). Has *anyone* yet noticed how closely that Hitler's rise to power in Germany is being duplicated by Bush yet?

Colonel: No, I don't I have work to do and I have a life. I suggest you read one of my blogs, tho.

"I used to be stupid, too, giving cash to people on the street, thereby feeding their addiction. "

Colonel says: Not everyone on the street is an addict and if you're smart you would know that. But, presonally, you nor I can save them from their problems. They have to save themselves. I know that. But, I can imagine that everyday IS Hell for them so if a 40 will give a bit of respite I give it. I know what alcholol and an ear to hear me did for me back in the day. (JUST LIKE YOU).

But, no, they ain't eatin dinner with me but,

I always eat alone. My choice, Cain.

"As far as my taxes, as if that was any of your business (Of course, as a liberal, you actually do think my money is your business, don't you?) "

Colonel says: Here is a lie but its decrorative, decietful. "As far as my taxes, as if that was any of your business."

You DO write it off, or your family does. If not, you would have jsut said so as I would have if I was asked the question. It just gets more deceitful tho because I touched too close. Look...it ain't none of our business...kinda like Bush.....

"I don't keep track of any receipts well enough to use them, so no, I don't get any benefit from it. Again, none of your business, though you think my money is your money to spend and give away."

Colonel says: The other stuff..well, it ain't for me...

I counter.

The Defense department is gettng upwards of 500 billion dollars a year---half a trillion (disregarding all the hidden money, the 87 billion over here, etc.)

The military men who may die for this country (E-4) our youngest and brightest make maybe $950 a month after taxes. (imagine what less than an E-4 makes).

You think that our money could be better spent? Saving your family. Helping our military guys? Drugs? Don't say..'"Say no to Drugs." Show a film like I have seen on what drugs can do to EVERY child before it happens. I know I will. I got a few at my home.

Maybe instead of telling everyone...we gotta start caring aout each other and warn those that don't know.

Ya think

Goodness, when you get this sticky sweet I find it hard to disagree with you TC. It's probably good that I don't have a team because you would most definately be able to infiltrate and cause all kinds of trouble.

Colonel, I got a flash-bulletin for you, pal, don't try and call me Cain, you lying hypocrite, as if you are better because you listen to lie and give chump change. Do all your friends see you doing your great but meaningless deeds, you lover of recognition, you pharasee? Why not just hand them some booze instead of money, that way they don't have to bother going to the store, stupid. No, I'll continue supporting shelters and kitchens, they don't serve booze, crack or crank at ours.

As far as the military goes, shut your filthy pie-hole. You have no idea what the heck you are talking about as you didn't have the guts to serve the nation but want to have the persona of a brave soldier so you call yourself "Colonel". I did serve, you spineless little twit. I did ok on the pay I received when I was single as my food and housing was furnished by Uncle Sam, and when I got married you get a bit more to compensate for the extra necessities, so we still did allright. Of course, I'm not telling you this as you are a spineless hypocrite that has no need to know, I'm merely insuring others aren't swayed by your BS.

welfare is a form of communism. it is giving money to people that have done nothing to earn that money in the first place. it needs to be done away with.

So Ivan, does that blanket-statement also cover the *millions of extra people made jobless* since Bush jumped into the driver's chair? The very same people who *used to be capable of paying that money to the government* from their paychecks before then?

Welfare should have stayed in it's originally intended form...A *temporary* help so that people screwed over by politicians like Bush have a chance to get back up on their feet after he's knocked them down.

Social welfare uses 4 cents of every tax dollar collected-
Corporate welfare uses 27 cents of every dollar collected-
Military expenditure use 47 cents of every tax dollar collected- (and growing)

Seems pretty obvious to me what government programs to cut! At least as a good Christian it does...

Military spending is large because it is the military that protects the rights of people like you.

The vast majority of the military has been stationed in *other countries* for decades & our Rights are being killed off faster than a .50 cal shoots!

Or haven't you noticed that?

I can solve all the problems with welfare with one simple sentence, and one paragraph of justification:

Drug test welfare recipients.

Where you have welfare recipients in bunches, you have drugs in abundance. Taxpayer money is going to drug dealers through welfare recipients. Federal workers and contractors are subject to random drug testing as a condition of employment. This should be extended to all recipients of federal income. But I'm willing to give retirees a pass.
