When I posted earlier on the execution of pedophiles, it was not from "an eye for an eye" point of view. They can NOT be cured. I was concerned for future victims of these vermin and the lifelong pain they would suffer. Big difference imo.

The fact that they want to lower the age of consent(or abolish it all together) shows warped thinking.

Suffice it to say, I have very personal experience with this and I have to walk away from the computer at times to keep from being thrown off of here.

It is FAR more insidious than many may be aware of. The effects last a lifetime and are debilitating to the extreme.

I'm very aware of how this affects children. Child molestation occured in my family and I currently have a nephew in prison for indecent liberties. Obviously I've severed all contact with him. Sex between children and adults should carry a very long prison term; say life without. My family is still fractured by this crime; my nephew was molested by his father and so the cycle continues.

Semper I understand very well having to walk away from the computer or get thrown off but we make a good team; cops put sexual criminals away; we keep them in prison but all of us have to deal with them and frequently after doing a cell search I too feel the need for a shower and a drink because of what we find.

After a few minutes of googling, I found out we all may be wrong about the legality of a theoretical consentual relationship of these guys!

I saw somewher that in the District of Columbia the age of consent is indeed 16, but only with partners 30 or under. I'm sure Foley is over 30, so this might actually be a crime after all.

Sorry I don't have time to look into more now, hopefully someone can.

But yet some of us are comfortable with permitting them to make decisions surrounding sex?

Honestly, what would the benefit be? Other than the adultss who get their twisted kicks out of it, how does the child benefit?

This is the crux of the alternate view point, in my opinion. The distinction is completely and utterly arbitrary. It's a feeling. It's what you or others are comfortable with. Its consistency is not standard, nor is it an objective line that one can draw. The same is true for the other issues: smoking, alcohol, the driving age, the age at which you can serve your country. That being said, not that I agree with all of their stances, but I can see where NAMBLA certainly has the right to pull for what they feel comfortable with, just as you have the right to publically disagree.

At age 16, in Texas, minors can fight to become independent of any guardians and parents, so long as they can show the judge their responsibility and living arrangements. But, while living under their own violition, the law says they can not decide to have sex with a thirty-year old. Where is the justice? What the child gains is short: the ability to decide for oneself about their sexual activities, no matter who would be uncomfortable with that decision. Just as a woman may have an abortion, no matter who would be uncomfortable with her decision (right, wrong, irresponsible, or responsible).

(slightly on and off topic)There seems to be a growing hate of personal responsibility in the world. Either it wasn't your decision to make, or it was someone elses fault. Minors can't make decisions; it's the guardians fault they are obese. Guardians feed their children horrible fast food, but that's not their fault. It's McDonald's fault for offering that food. McDonald's isn't at fault for providing that food, it's the governments fault that it was not regulated. This is just one extended example!

This thread has respected their right to peacefully lobby for the abolition of consent laws, we just do not agree with it. (For the most part) Not everybody has accepted their rights, or everyone disagrees with it but thats life.

The fact remains, I do respect their rights but I believe it to be wrong and disturbed.

We all have our comfort levels, and I believe I speak for millions or more when I say this is beyond any comfort level. Sex with a minor is wrong, it is exploitation and they need to mature before they should be faced with these issues.

You know I think I should mention this, just in ase someone accuses
me of it.

As I originally said, I do not support NAMBLA, as I think that the
majority of them are pervs who woud'nt care about the feelings of
the child, and would probably rape them just to get off.

I myself am 18, and the youngest I would ever be comfortable
going is 15, and that will inevitably rise as I grow older.
And indeed I prefer males the same age or about 5 years older than
me.

Thanks GH,

Just hits too close to some VERY personal experiences. I had to back away.

You all here on ATS are my extended family. That is how I feel anyway. There are just something's I can only discuss to a certain extent.

In the Franklin Coverup Scandal of 1989, Paul A. Bonacci claimed that he had been kidnapped and flown to the Grove by Republican leader Lawrence King and was forced into sexual acts with other boys. In a later lawsuit claiming that Paul Bonacci was the subject of mind control experiments, Bonacci testified to these and other charges in court with U.S. Senior District Judge Warren Urbom presiding. Bonacci was awarded $1 million by Judge Urbom in a default judgement, but the judge did not find that the allegations were true.[3] A grandjury investigated the claims in the Franklin Coverup Scandal. On July 23, 1990, after hearing many hours of testimony, the grand jury threw out all of the allegations concerning sexual abuse, labeling the charges a "carefully crafted hoax".

Can you elaborate and let us know what exactly the Bohemian Grove has to do with NAMBLA?

I just read through the link, and nothing is mentioned of the abolishment of consent laws.

Am I missing something?

I think it's because of some rumour that states that the people
in the Bohemian Grove have sex with young boys, and than
sacrifice them to an owl or something like that.

Just thought I'd try and help.

Is their anything to substantiate this rumour? I would assume no, because if it were the case it would be quite the headline. This is the first I have heard of it, so would I be correct in saying this is alittle far fetched?

Just to cause alittle controversy.

Our views of modesty and sexuality are all very new. They are based on puritan and prudish Victorian belief systems. All of which are heavily based on christian theological morality.

Many civilizations before our small, insignificant stretch on this earth as a free nation have had different views of sexuality and whom those encounters deal with. Many of those encounters our culture would consider immoral and sickening. The Romans had no distinction between male or female in terms of sexual encounters, nor age. Infact, it was quite expected and common for a male boy coming of age to experiment with both genders of theyre own age or even older.

Do we have a right to judge them, based on our moral views? Are we more right?

NAMBLA does not condone molestation or rape. They believe that theyre interest in young men is natural, that its something they can not change, but is not something that makes them sinister or evil. They believe that our culture needs to change to become more secular and with less religious moral constraints. They say that the boys they have sexual encounters with, like the romans, are experimenting, and consenting.

I understand what your saying WoW, and I do agree with what your saying on NAMBLA.

However, I am under the impression that our society has come to realize young children can not fully understand the consequences of their action. We as a society have introduced laws that protect our children, and I fully support these laws.

Saying that in ancient times this sort of act was accepted, does not condone the act today. It is not an explanation, but is an indication how far our society has come.

When we leave our childhoods behind us, we already understand the massive amounts of mistakes we made. But most of us are lucky enough to not have to deal with being exploited by an adult, abolishing the consent laws would only increase the number of children in this bracket.

We've had a member say, a man can die for his country in the United States at 18 but can not buy alcohol until 21. What kind of standard is that? I agree with you, I would support the lowering of the legal alcohol age.

But pointing out that 19 & 20 year olds should beable to buy alcohol does nothing for the argument with 12 and 13 year old children being able to have sex.

Members who are defending the NAMBLA cause. Do you have children?

Would you want your 12 year old boy to have sex? Would you want your daughter to have sex?

Albeit sex with a peer or an adult, that is irregardless. The fact is you would not wanting them having sex period.

(Children) the words you are speaking today are the same words that was spoking in the past about gays.

Again, maybe I am missing something.

What do all of them facts have to do with this?

NAMBLA is more for abolishing consent laws rather than advocating homosexuality.

It probably does apply the same because the ACLU will take this case at some point and use the same laws that help gays be accepted and protected to protect the MBLA.
The only thing will be that they will need parental concent and I think we all know that their are plenty of parents that will sell or trade the sexual rights of their child.

They all apply the first thing you need to stop and do is to open your eyes and see the big picture and you can start off by looking at history. History always repeats its self in one form or another. For example what I posted above is history if you change the dates and names you will see that it is happening today. The big picture that you need to see when gays where accepted into society Pandora's box was opened and the warnings where loud and clear not to open it. The reason why was because the gays where a stepping stone to the rest, you know the part that people didn't want to hear. Like NAMBLA and Butterfly Kisses and the heterosexuals that want to have sex with your children and the teachers are leading the way because they know that women will not be punished as harsh as men would be, it's all about normalizing it so that society will slowly accept it. Again look at my post. It was done slowly but don't let it mislead you they didn't have the internet so now the onset will be faster. This issue is like a sore the more you pick at it the worse it's going to get. I believe that in the future the bible will be used against society for example where did you get all those ideas? about child molester's and all those values, history will tell you that our values and societies laws come from the Bible. I am not going to post this filth that comes out of the bible it makes Hustler Magazine Look Like Mother Theresa! .
