Ignore button what is it?

Topic started on 24-9-2006 @ 05:54 AM by Shar

What is the ignore button?

What does it do?

If you hit it does it mean you cant see their post but they can still post?

I *think* you just cant see what they say,

They can still post as normall etc.

I personally don't use it, even though a few people on here hate me

If someone quotes the ignored then you can see the quote in the reply of the person doing the quoting. I don't have anyone ignored but I did at one time and that is how I remember it working. I hope that makes sense.

I've never used this particular feature on ATS because I see no reason to cut off the opinions of another member. I tend to use the complain button if someone starts getting rude or abusive, and then the mods take care of the problem.

ATS is a community, it just wouldn't be right to turn my back and ignore someone. Perhaps it's a feature that the boards could do without.

I only used it Twice..

Once when someone was deliberately trying to provoke me when i,d had a bad day.

Second was when a (shall remain anonymous of course) guy kept praying for my misguided soul after every differing exchange of opinion i had the audacity to post lol

It,s not an ignorant decision to choose.. More of a cooling off button until the desire to reply (with a nasty comment on the spur of the moment which could cost you points or even your membership here) has passed..

A very wise decision to install..

BTW both were taken off ignore a day later

Can the person you are ignoring tell that you have ignored them? (I mean, other than by the lack of response from you.)

Another way of asking this: How can I tell whether I am being ignored? Is there a way?

Just curious. Feel free to ignore this.

You can't tell if someone puts you on ignore. And they can't tell if you ignore them.

Unless you u2u them..."I'm ignoring you"

Considering how people have left me rather nasty messages on my profile in the past (on my old, banned account too) saying that they're ignoring me, people would probably find it odd that i haven't put them on ignore either.

The reason is simple;

I don't play those childish games.
