I think I commonly get a version of sleep paralysis.
The most recent case was after a dream/nightmare. I knew the dream would be a nightmare, so I checked out of it. Instead of waking up, I was in my
bed, and couldn't move at all. I could only think and blink. Then I really woke up (had to go to the bathroom
).
Before anything scary actually comes, I can get out of the paralyzed state (usually through very aggressively trying to do something physical, such as
thrashing around or screaming).
I'm rather happy that I don't have to deal with the hallucinations (maybe?) that others have experienced.
