In Rev. jesus states he will be like a theif in the night. Why does he say this? Will it be him?

He uses this analogy to describe the time of his second coming - of course you already know this. He also states in the Gospels that - like a thief in the night - the owner of a house would stay awake and be prepared to catch the thief if he knew when he was coming.

So what it is saying is that his second coming happens when people do not expect it, because they are unaware just as a thief doesn't announce when they are going to break into your house. It also means that no one will see him coming, but only after the fact, when it is too late to catch him. Either way, it doesn't mean he is coming to take away anything that would otherwise benefit us by our sensabilities, but rather he is coming to take away something that is currently harming us. The house he is speaking of is not a real bricks and mortar building, but he is talking about your body as being like a house for the soul - a temporary one. He doesn't come back as another person would appear to you, but breaks in your house internally, where you never thought to look. This is why he describes it to be like a thief in the night.

It's easy to understand the analogy being made. Sadly, there's a HUGE part of the analogy that is ignored: Not only does the home owner not know what time a Thief may pay him a visit, but the same home owner, when he wakes up in the morning, ALSO does not know at what time of the night all his stuff went missing ! Perhaps the ressurection of the dead happened yesterday, how would we know, they would all have been taken someplace other than earth.

Well,

In Rev. jesus states he will be like a theif in the night. Why does he say this? Will it be him?

Yes, He says He will come like a thief in the night because we do not know of the hour or of that day when it will be.
We all know that death will come upon us all.....there is no way out of this!

quote///"For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
For when they say, ''Peace and safety!'' then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman.
And they shall not escape" (1 Thes. 5:1-6).

It is said, so that we are ready to face death, both in body and soul.

The Resurrection of the dead has not yet happened.
This will happen at the end of the world........there will be a resurrection of the dead.........Judgement day....
quote///"Do not marvel at this: for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice (of the Son of God) and come forth; those who have done good,
to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil,
to the resurrection of condemnation" (John 5:29).
and also......
For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ all shall be made alive" (1 Cor. 15:13-22).
Death condemned by Jesus Christ.

A thief is unexpected, Jesus return will be. He's coming in the night. Night is associated with darkness. Darkness can also be used to describe the spiritual aspect of a person/humanity. In other words sin will be rampant and increasing.

Also a thief takes something, removes it from where He found it, and takes it with Him. The thief takes valuable stuff. I believe this is a veiled reference to the rapture and Christ returning to remove something of great value, christians.

Now remember there are people who are saved after the rapture during the tribulation. Also remember Christ died so that all can receive forgiveness through Him. So I am not stating that someone people are of more value than others, because died for all sin.
