In what appears to be a major upset, Deval Patrick has won the Democratic primary for Governor of Massachusetts. He beat the favorite, AG Tom Reilly,
by a large margin. Another contender was Chris Gabrieli.
This is significant because this is the first time a black has risen to this point in Massachusetts politics. His Republican opponent in November will be Lt. Gov. Kerry Healy.
