a canadian man returning from his middle eastern holiday was arrested in new york in 2002 for being and al qaeda member was sent not to canada for
trial but to syria to be tortured. he was released in 2003.
concluding the public report into this, justice dennis o'conner stated "I am able to say categorically that there is no evidence to indicate that Mr
Arar has committed any offence or that his activities constitute a threat to the security of Canada," it only addressed canada's role in this
however and not the u.s. role.
i wonder how much useful information they got out of him during that time?
