Princeton Demonstrates the Simplicity of Diebold Voting Machine Fraud

Security Analysis of the Diebold AccuVote-TS Voting Machine

This paper presents a fully independent security study of a Diebold AccuVote-TS voting machine, including its hardware and software. We obtained the machine from a private party. Analysis of the machine, in light of real election procedures, shows that it is vulnerable to extremely serious attacks. For example, an attacker who gets physical access to a machine or its removable memory card for as little as one minute could install malicious code; malicious code on a machine could steal votes undetectably, modifying all records, logs, and counters to be consistent with the fraudulent vote count it creates. An attacker could also create malicious code that spreads automatically and silently from machine to machine during normal election activities — a voting-machine virus. We have constructed working demonstrations of these attacks in our lab. Mitigating these threats will require changes to the voting machine's hardware and software and the adoption of more rigorous election procedures.

Diebold Added Secret Patch to Georgia E-Voting Systems in 2002, Whistleblowers Say


Top Diebold corporation officials ordered workers to install secret files to Georgia’s electronic voting machines shortly before the 2002 Elections, at least two whistleblowers are now asserting, Atlanta Progressive News has learned.

Former Diebold official Chris Hood told his story concerning the secret “patch” to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., for Kennedy’s second article on electronic voting in this week’s Rolling Stone Magazine.

Hood’s claims corroborate a second whistleblower who spoke with Black Box Voting and Wired News in 2003.

We need to get an open source solution for voting. Let anyone view the results. Let everyone observe what is going on. One company should not be in control like this. Only problem with that is there is no money in that sort of solution.. and the way they have it now is an enormous source of wealth and power.

What has America become? Has it EVER been what we were led to believe? OF the people? Let freedom ring? America (the land, the idea, the people) has been raped. When we vote for corrupt leaders, we give them a free pass to do as they will. Even though the voting machines are rigged...it's not too late. We are letting greedy, unethical slimebags rule our lives and steal from us and our children the American dream. They fill our brains with mindless TV shows, they fill our bodies with poisons and they think they have such a stranglehold on us. One day, the tide will change. We are quickly reaching the tipping point, and those among us who would do anything to gain power will find themselves in a living hell.
