The green water gave way, and I slipped into its dark abyss. I was lulled to sleep by the gentle movement of the sea weed, and the surreal color of the lake.

What life maybe left in me,
Whatever Death may will,
What Darkness is there left to be,
When all this Earth is still?

I have trodden the paths of many a life,
I have shared the joy of many a wife,
I have looked upon women with lust,
I have seen myself end, back to dust.

Now what might be left of me?
In this aqua world,
This dying sea.

My skin has shriveled, bloated too,
What Death has for me, I have yet to do,
Why do I sit, left to rot?
Why has Death done what it should not?

I have waited here through many a year,
Not one sad thought, nor one cold tear,
Those I knew, in life, have shed,
Now that I have passed away,
Now that I am dead.

I am left at the bottom of the Sea,
And what I ask for, you might give,
"Please, Please remember me!!!"
"So that I might live!"

Oi, Judges,

I actually did a CGI animation... ummm... can I use it as a contest entry? It was originally a short story I was composing in a recent camping trip, then we sort of acted it out on film, then I took it from there and made a CGI animation for it, and before you know it I'd added a narrative, a soundtrack and...

well... it's 1:45 seconds, and it's a bit crap compared to what any college-trained professional could do, but if it's a fair cop I'd like to enter it in the competition.

Whether or not you can enter it in the contest, be sure to post it on the Short Stories thread so we can all have a look at it.

Sounds cool to me.

Just my opinion, worldwatcher is the supermod for this contest, so I'd have to get her opinion as well, but I think the competition is for writing only.

Not that I wouldn't want to see your animation, though...

Slip it into this thread or start another in Short Stories so we can have a look-see.

Will do. Lemme convert it to a more manageable format. It's currently half a gig. Then I'll get it up on ATS.

Ahh...why did I have to find this thread! Is there a limit to the story length? I started writing one tonight and am up to about 3,000 words so far...oh well, you will probably just get the one entry from me, I have already scared myself too much writing this to do another one...just wondering.

There's no upper limit and a lose lower limit of 500 words (not that we're going to count them
but we just want to avoid 1-liner stories..

Tonight at midnight, it will be 7 days until the end of the contest.

Because the stories are so excellent, the judges need some time. We'll be posting the results as soon as we're decided on the winners.

Hey, I didn't have time to complete mine, but don't really care about winning points anyway...will post it up once I've worked on it some more. Good luck to everyone else though, it will be ineteresting to see the winner.

Wow, I posted this really nice poem at the top of this page and no one has commented on it yet. Go figure. *Hint, Hint*

Anyway, I'd like to know who won, even though I don't think I have much of a chance with what I submitted.

*Prays*

Voidmaster : Very nice. Are you saying that if we're remembered in any way, shape, or form, . . . .by anyone after we've departed, that we will live on?

Ah, to be forgotten would be so lonely. Here's to fond memories for all !

That's good VoidMaster; I hadn't noticed it before

I'd like to throw out another querulous voice asking for the status of the results
My F5 key is getting a little worn out--is it supposed to squeak? I just remember a painful groaning when it noticed I was on ATS...

Patience, writers, patience

If there were not so many excellent writers, it would have been so much easier.

Just to let you know, as a judge I've made my picks and forwarded them.

No, I didn't win

Now for the rest of the judging staff to compare notes and make the final decision.

Oh, and about that poem, Voidmaster...I'll get into that after the winners are announced.

I do have something to say about it cuz I do so love poetry

Any word from the governor yet?

The suspense is terrible; I hope it lasts...

In case my comment was interpreted as anything other than a joke, I really was kidding about hoping that the suspense lasts...

C'mon guys, dozens of us are anxiously awaiting the results
