CNN is showing breaking news of a just-released message from al Qaeda #2 Ayman al-Zawahiri. The message supposedly calls muslims to increase their resistance to the U.S.

A lengthy statement from al Qaeda No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington calls on Muslims to step up their resistance against the United States.

Al-Zawahiri also attacks "collaborators" he says have abandoned Islam.

"The days are pregnant and giving birth to new events, with Allah's permission and guidance," Zawahiri says in a statement posted on the Internet late Sunday.

In the past it has been threatened that al Qaeda could use these video and audio releases as "triggers" for attack activity. It would seem redundant if that were the case here as the sentiment of the 5th anniversary of the hijackings will likely serve as a sober reminder of the changes in our world culture. Additional attacks, especially on as important day as 9/11, would likely further anti-Arab sentiment and prejudice worldwide.
