70 000 Missiles Pointing at Israel

Hezbollah again claims victory over Israel.

When the war ended on August 14, Israel has claimed that Hezbollah fired 3000 missiles at Israel.

Hezbollah says it fired 8000 missiles during one month war with Israel.

That would mean that Israel was hiding the true number.

Hezbollah deputy has said that the guerillas groups had nearly 90 000 missiles.

Hezbollah could have continued the war for about 18 months.

Israeli towns would have been flattened.

what i thought strange was that the qassam/katyusha rockets were only fired in small salvos, a dozen or so at a time, wouldn't it have been made a far more effective weapon to fire off volleys of 100+ rockets at once in massed barrages if they had an arsenal of 50,000 upwards?

So Israel lied and Hezbollah tells the truth?
Considering Hezbollah's past I find it difficult to believe anything they say.

You may choose not to accept anything Hezbollah says.

But if you ask the Jews, they would rather believe that Hezbollah tells them then what their own government says.

Polls conducted by Dr. Udi Lebel, political psychology lecturer, found sad picture of Israeli PR

Since the end of the war in the north, two main issues have been keeping the public busy: The demand for an account of the failures by the Israeli leadership, and criticism of the press and nature of reports.
A new study, however, buy Dr. Uri Lebel of the Ben Gurion Institute, Beer Sheva University, has found that another problem requires urgent treatment: Israeli PR.
During the poll, entitled "the management of Israeli PR during the second Lebanon war," members of six groups were asked to watch video recordings of Israeli PR in Israel and abroad, and to answer questions. Lebel says he held polls in the past on issues of strategic press, political psychology, and army-media relations. The result of his latest poll show that Israeli PR was so lacking, that in my cases the public was forced to rely on the reports of Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Lebel says a good media leader relies on three points - gripping the audience, being watchable, and giving the feeling of certainty.
The participants of the poll were asked who gave the a sense of certainty regarding the continuance of the war, and who was most authentic. The results were unequivocal: The Israeli public chose Nasrallah's speeches as giving it both.

'Nasrallah contradicted the Israeli spokespeople'

Asked about Nasrallah's authenticity compared to that of Israeli spokespeople, not one Hebrew spokesperson received high authenticity marks.
"We reached a really crazy situation," says Lebel. "A psychological situation which seems inconceivable: Instead of the Israeli public watching our national spokesman who tells it what is happening every day, who will minimize the chaos and who will be seen as believable, something unprecedented happened: The public perceived the enemy leader against whom we fought as having those characteristics, and waited impatiently for his speeches. Nasrallah contradicted the Israeli spokespeople more than once, many times contradicting the minister of defense - he was the first to announce the deaths of Israeli soldiers and the sad circumstances which led to them."
He added: "This isn't the first time that a bereaved mother found out the truth of the death of her son in recordings released by Hizbullah, where a totally different picture is shown to what the IDF and its spokespeople have provided."
Dr. Lebel believes that the figures indicate a serious crisis of leadership down the road. "It's not important if objectively the leadership did its best - now the public perceives it as cut off, unprofessional, and boastful. It won't follow the leadership to the next confrontation," he said.

Its possible that they were trying to manage their usage of the rockets. They could have been expecting a longer war once it started. In addition, routes into Lebanon were being cut off and additional missle shipments were being halted from Iran by the US/Iraq and US/Turkey alliance preventing flights from Iran into Syria with mobile launchers and more missles.

So is it 70,000 or 90,000?

I doubt anyone knows how many rockets Hezbollah has, outside the top echelons of Hezbollah itself.

Considering Hezbollah's past I find it difficult to believe anything they say.

I'd take anything that comes from either Hezbollah or the Israeli government with a whole shaker full of salt. Both are very keen on stage managing and on fighting the propaganda war.

Hezbollah and Israel sounds to me like two macho man trying to figure out who got the biggest cojones after a dispute for a woman

Is so typical for this two groups claim that both are victorious and none were losers.

They are fighting to keep their manhood and ego in one piece.

The likely reason that the rockets were fired in small salvos is to reduce detection. Trying to move a large number of rockets and get them set-up would be much easier to see through reconnaissance photos.

Those missles aren't very accurate, obviously, it took 8,000(?) of those missiles to kill 163 Israeli's. And not all these casualties were from missles.

But, let's just say that 163 were killed by the missiles. ALL the Israeli casualties.

So if they fired 80,000 missiles, (10 times what they supposedly fired at Israel), according to this missile to kill ratio, they may kill 1,630 people.

I'd be looking for a better offensive weapon and throw those missles away.

(Those missles must have to hit somebody on the head to kill them.)

I'd think that the last thing hezbollah wants to say is that they had 90,000 missiles, or anything like that, and only fire 5-8,000 of them. I mean, wtf are they waiting for then eh?

obviously hezbollah are waiting for the second round.

they are already getting supplies from syria and iran to stock up.

they have been getting latest anti-tank missiles from russia and using them with deadly effect on the israeli army.

many nations give weapons to hezbollah who are considered part of the lebanese government and a national resistence.

even britain has been shipping them night vision goggles.

israel accused britain of helping hezbollah.

Noam Chomsky Praises Hezbollah

The Professor met with Hezbollah leader before the start of the war in Lebanon.

do you suppose that Nasrallah obtained justification for the kidnappings from Noam?

maybe he laid out international law and told hezbollah that they have right to attack israel.

professor is a legend in the US. he may have given more justifications to hezbollah to launch attacks on israel.
