I wanna buy a car. Anyone got any tips fo buyin one? What features should I look for/avoid? Does anyone know which website is best to look in? I look at Craigslist.org, maybe there are other websites. Any advice would be appreciated.

Actually, I think I know some people who are skilled in cars who I could consider takin with me when I check out a car. Yeah, that's definetley a must! Mayble I'll take a real Mechanic with me, too.

Oh, and I'm gonna go to places where people park cars with FOR SALE signs, and check those out, too.

Also try & getta Carfax report to show the vehicles history.

If there are any near you... try an Auto Auction.....

My ex father in law, used to buy cars at auction, he got some very nice ones for very little money...

$2500 at an auction should get you a 4-5 thousand dollar car....

Research research and more research. That's the best thing you can do

Go to the library and read roadtests of the ones your interested in. See if you can find a web forum about your choices.. that's one of the best places to find out what the common problems are.

Another thing is sign up for a month of vin check on carfax.com that can save you a TON of money. (There are many Katrina flooded cars out there in the market)

Well the car should have a nice grillz... you may not be able to get a diamond plated one for that much money.

Just make sure to get a used car report.

Talk about it to everyone you know about it. Look for one for sale in nice neighborhoods, and out in the countryside. Make friends with your local mechanic. Take your time. Use the web to research the used cost of the one you find, like bluebook value, etc.

Take it to a mechanic for a once over.

Be wary about vehicle history reports. They usually only report major overhauls to the car like when it has been totaled in an accident and completely rebuilt. A vehicle history report will not tell you whether the previous owner(s) maintained the vehicle well nor will it tell you whether they drove the car with care. For all you know, you could be buying a car from someone who never changed the oil and drove the car fast over speed bumps.

A tip I learned is that you should check the cars fluids. They should be clear and not too full of dirt. This is a sign of propper maintenence, but not conclusive proof as the owner could have changed the oil or some other fluid for the very first time just before he is selling the car. Also, try driving the car on a bumpy road to see how the suspension feels.
