Communism and "The Reds"

My Lang Arts Teacher asked us "Why communists were called "Reds" During the Cold War. I had no clue. I just assumed beacause of the color of their flag. Do you guys no anymore on this subject?

You ABOSOLUTELY right. As 4 Russian, I'm sure he's drinking blood under the full moon and he think that Mars is a communist planet since he knows it's a red planet.
