I was at home for lunch today and saw a story on MSNBC about this Princess Kiko in Japan whose baby is due in about 2 weeks and everyone is hoping for a boy because "No royal males have been born since the baby’s father in 1965", and only a boy is allowed to ascend the throne.

So now it's about 8 hours later and I see a story online about Princess Kiko having a baby boy.

So maybe I've missed something but how did we move so quickly between the story of waiting 2 weeks for a baby that is hopefully a boy... to the story of her having a boy?

I was just a bit shocked by that. If anyone can shed some light on this I'd appreciate it.

I would think that the Royalties could easily have a lab select a male embryo for implantation.
