A few years ago, prior to the TechTV/G4 merge, there was a segment on the TechTV News that claimed an American scientist had discovered an economic means of converting all carbon based waste, toxic or not, back into a crude form, effectively resolving the "oil crisis."
A few months after, the topic came up in conversation, and knowing TechTV kept show logs on their website, I checked up. To my surprise, I found all material for that date had been removed. I had forgotten all about it until the other day when I found myself rooting around in the Peak Oil forums.
Does anyone remember this, or have an information regarding that story/claim?

I'm scratching my head on this one, too. I recall my husband, a fan of the old Techtv, sharing this story with me. Could it have been this?
