the KGB has allegedly had a special unit designed to gather and monitor all pieces of information regarding mystical and unexplained phenomena reported inside and outside the Soviet Union. An article published some time ago by a Madrid magazine Mas Alla probably indicates that the above allegations hold water. The magazine also published several stills from a film by U.S. TV station TNT affiliated with CNN.

Both the magazine and film say that in 1968 the KGB supposedly took possession of an UFO, which had either crashed or been shot down by the Soviet air defense. The Soviet secret police were alleged to have obtained the body of a humanoid in the cockpit. The body was thoroughly examined in an anatomy department of the Semashko Medical Institute in Moscow. The TV station claims that the film was based on a footage of the incident provided by one Pavel Klimchenkov, a former KGB officer. According to TNT officials, the documents are a deliberate “leak” to the media.

Klimcheko flashed his allegedly genuine ID on camera as though he was proving that he really was a retired KGB officer. He did not elaborate on the “leak” and said nothing as to its purposes. Therefore, the mystical story should draw comments on the official level, according to the magazine. There has been no response from the Russian authorities so far.

British actor Roger Moore, one of the two most famous Bonds, was hired by TNT to spike the film with a flavor of sensationalism. He presented the story based on the events that took place near the town of Berezniki in the Urals in 1968.

It seems fairly clear that this was a hoax.

The article was based on claims of a crash in a TV documentary (presented by Roger Moore) entitled "The Secret KGB UFO Files", which was first broadcast on the TNT network on 13 September 1998.

The relevant documentary was directed by Dan Goldman, and written by David Doyle and Gregg Ostrin. (The background of the latter writer is quite amusing...).

Of course, this is not as good as watching it on TV (and the relevant documentary is regularly shown in the UK on the Sci Fi satellite channel).

Most of the discussions on the Internet of this fairly well-known documentary relate to famous (or possibly that should be "infamous") footage of an alleged UFO crash site and alien autopsy in Russia. The relevant crash/autopsy footage is discussed in some detail on various websites and if you are looking into the documentary you may be interested in some of those discussions (since they may provide some insight into the credibility of the production overall, and also point you in the direction of researchers that have investigated the various bits of material presented in the relevant documentary).

If you do a Google search for "Sverdlovsky" and "alien autopsy" you will find variopus relatively short and to the point discussions which gives variou reasonably strong reasons for concluding that the crash/autopsy footage is a hoax.

Somewhat difficult to understand, but fairly detailed, is the commentary at:

The latter of the above two links makes various points in relation to the style of documents used that should be easy for any Russian to confirm or deny. For example, it is claimed that the "death certificates" of the 3 doctors that allegedly
performed the "alien autopsy" are in the style used in the Russian Federation _after_ 1993, when according to the documentary those death certificates are _supposed_ to date from 1969.

By the way, I'm not sure how to save this type of file (realmedia) to your computer from the above link, but I'm sure that one of the more technically capable members of ATS could tell you how to do that.

Well UFO's ARE fake as long as we continue to accept them as "UFO's". Just accept them for what they are and then they cannot be denied. It is not the government that is lying to you. If one uses the proper terminology to ask a question, it will not be denied. Also, there is no such thing as supernatural or paranormal. Anythng that is existing... either exists and is natural because it exists... or it doesn't exist. Just because one is human and cannot understand it properly does not approve a term of paranormal or supernatural. That only further seperates us from the truth that we desire.

The way to prove something is real is by proving that fakes are fakes. Until every hoax is accountable, we cannot point out something real and say "ALIENS!! RUN BEFORE THEY ENSLAVE US ALL!"

Nor KGB nor GRU had anything to do with the aliens. All they did at max - forwarded all the reports to Ministry of Defence's project Setka MO or Academy of Science's Setka AN. Alike to US's project blue book. At least that's what they tell us And i still have no idea where all the photos/videos went. And that question is still open to project blue book. Anyone any ideas where are all the videos and photos they should've debunked as a part of the project? Or was video/photo material gathering never intended? If so, could someone enlighten me why the phrack?
