Metal was king in the 80's as rock was dead. Metalica, before they were Metalagreed smoked. Do you have a fav song? They had many. I'm sure we'll see One, Blackened, etc.

Mine is Creeping Death. Solid tune.

RIDE THE LIGHTNING RULES.

I’ve gotta’ go with “One.”

I’ve spent many quarters playing that on the jukebox.

My favourite album was always ...And Justice For All, and I think my favourite tune off that would have to be Dyers Eve:

Dear Mother
Dear Father
What is this Hell you have put me through
Believer
Deceiver
Day in day out live my life through you
Pushed onto me what's wrong or right
Hidden from this thing that they call life

Dear Mother
Dear Father
Every thought I'd think you'd disapprove
Curator
Dictator
Always censoring my every move
Children are seen but are not heard
Tear out everything inspired

Innocence
Torn from me without your shelter
Barred reality
I'm living blindly

Dear Mother
Dear Father
Time has frozen still what's left to be
Hear nothing
Say nothing
Cannot face the fact I think for me
No guarantee, it's life as is
But damn you for not giving me my chance

Dear Mother
Dear Father
You've clipped my wings before I learnt to fly
Unspoiled
Unspoken
I've outgrown that #ing lullaby
Same thing I've always heard from you
Do as I say not as I do

Innocence
Torn from me without your shelter
Barred reality
I'm living blindly

I'm in Hell without you
Cannot cope without you two
Shocked at the world that I see
Innocent victim please rescue me

Dear Mother
Dear Father
Hidden in your world you've made for me
I'm seething
I'm bleeding
Ripping wounds in me that never heal
Undying spite I feel for you
Living out this Hell you always knew

Without doubt for me JUMP IN THE FIRE off Kill Em All.

That song still makes me do this :bnghd:

Very hard to pick.

Really it's everything on the Kill them all, Ride the lightning, and Master of Puppets albums.

If you forced me to pick just one, I'd say Damage Inc. is my favorite song, but just barely.

Thats a tough one...

For me I'd have to say either Blackend or Fade to Black...
I do like Unforgiven 2 as well but not a top choice

Fade to black, but really the whole ride the lightning album.

Leper Messiah from the Master of Puppets album. What a riff! And the drums on that whole album are great!

"Enter Sandman" & "Nothing Else Matters", not necessarily in that order; honorable mention to "One" & "Don't tread on me".

My favorite Metallica song?.......

Would probably have to be "For Whom The Bell Tolls".

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!

Its hard to choose a fave for me in old Metallica. Its a toss between Sanatarium, Fade to Black, Seek and Destroy, or Metal Militia.

Tough, tough choice here!

Welcome Home (Sanitarium) and Seek and Destroy.

Peace

What a surprise, no one has listed any of the later stuff.

Anything off either Puppets or Lightning for me.

Metallica were so concerned about people copying their cds that they came up with the perfect DRM solution, make all the cds so bad that no one even wants them for free.

How could a band who started off so good, sell out and end up so bad?

It started when they cut their hair. I think the hair is key to their strength. Like the biblical Samson. When he got his hair cut, he turned into a wuss.

I think the same thing happened with Metallica. They lost their super-human metal strength and became a bunch of punk assed middle aged sell out posers.

Word to the metalheads: dont cut your hair!!!!!!!!!!!:bnghd:

The first three albums are all classics, so it's tough to choose. But, "the thing that should not be" of master of puppets has always been one of my favorites. Honorable mention has to go to "fight fire with fire" from ride the lighting. I love the way the opening riff just explodes after the nice acoustic intro.

I've always liked Barbie Girl.

Ride the Lightning, the entire album, FTW!!. Even a left behind treat from Dave Mustaine in there. Sweeeeet.

I saw them live on the Black Album tour and Creeping Death is by far their best song live. My neck still hurts from the headbanging and my ears are still ringing from Kirk's solos. TURN THE TREBLE DOWN, YA FRIKKIN MORON!!

RIP Cliff.

My favorite Metallica song?

Actually, I got two favorite Metallica songs. The first one is "Nothing Else Matters". I can't think of what album it's off of though. Second favorite song is "Sad but True" off the Black Album.

Not a huge fan of Metallica, but they have written some great songs.

If I had to pick 2 it would probably be "Wherever I May Roam" and "Eye of the Beholder". Or maybe "Blackened" and "The Unforgiven".

Best album "...And Justive For All", amazing sound on that CD.

It's a shame they had to do the whole Napster thing, way to lose 90% of your "coolness" credibility

What about when you get to my age and you start going bald. I still love my METAL but i aint traipsing around with strands of long hair scattered around a balding dome.

Rob Halford gets away with the short hair without losing any metal cool anyway, its all about attitude not hair. 20yrs ago when i had a long thick mane i wouldve agreed with you. lol.
