Hey chaps,

I read the name "Hefferlin Manuscript" written in a few places, and I want to find out what it is, exactly. Where can I find it online?

Google is your friend:
www.google.com...

A long exerpt from a book that talks about this is here (and says the Hefferlin material is mostly "wistful thinking") :
www.geocities.com...

The Hefferlin Manuscript was published in October 1946 Amazing Stories. This is (or was) a science fiction magazine. Comments from the readers of THAT time were scornful.

Here's what one wrote to the magazine in response to the articles:

One reader wrote that after reading Hefferlin's
article on static, he could only 'heartily suggest that Mr.
Hefferlin buy a good book on radio and electricity and learn a
little about the subject before he writes any more articles.... I
honestly cannot see how anyone with a high school education could
read Mr. Hefferlin's article without laughing.'

The author associated with this manuscript, Palmer, had a cloudy reputation (had been caught presenting his own fiction as fact, as explained elsewhere in that article.) It's a pretty wild tale... the link above goes into most of it.

From what I've seen of the manuscript, I agree that it's bad science, unworkable theories, and a huge dose of fantasy.
