Only Those with High Speed dsl or cable connections to internet need apply.

This is a about 2.59 gigs( as per my download manager) worth of download, however another downloader said the download was 2.89 gig's???

This "MAY" have other applications included also, which could explain the download size difference.

If I were to guess, I might think it includes windows one care and other M$ programs beyond the OS-This is not confirmed yet!!!!

M$ is providing 100,000 downloads of vista RC1.

Windows Vista RC1

Make sure and hurry, only 100,000 downloads and the program ends!!!

Well, I came to tell you the news but everybody already knew...

I have already downloaded it and I am burning the DVD right now.

Apparently it is faster, installs faster and has some of the annoyances people found corrected.

I don't know, if it is like the other versions it may trash the boot loader.

I am not sure what the problem is. I have completed downloading the whole thing, in fact, I used FireFox to boot.

I say retry the link and let me know.

This is from Windows Vista Pre-RC1.

The instalation is faster, it took around 45 minutes, from which 20 was extracting the files (my disk is a bit slow).

I had a problem because I dont know what password I had chosed when creating the user, but I tried one of those boot disks to reset the passwords and it worked.

Now I will try to install all the software I had, this is a new instalation.

If I had created a disk with my configuration before I could have used now.

Edit: the boot disk I used to clear the password was this

I was invited and my installation failed, like it would stall on the book screen with the colors. I think it may have something to do with me trying to install of a second drive, which I did successfully on the last beta, but not on this version even though it gave me the option to. The install files were still copied to the main XP drive. I may try to reconnect the drives and try again.

See if you have enough free space, I installed it on the second partition of the second drive and didn't had any problem.

Windows Vista Pre-RC1 is really faster than Beta 2.

I can not notice any difference between Vista Pre-RC1 and XP while using Opera and some other Windows Explorer folders and system utilities.

The System Rating as changed, this is my System Rating for Pre-RC1.

This was with Beta 2.

I didn't change anything in my computer.

I couldn't read the message, could you post it here?

You could try to create another DVD, it could be a problem with the media, I think that with the Beta 2 many people had problems because of that.

My load went well, no issues.

It found drivers for everything but my x-fi soundcard-downloaded a beta driver from creative-hope it works.

I have downloaded and used:Firefox, Adawear,spybot search and distroy,microtrend antivirus/firewall.

In fact I am using Vista now.

More as it comes.

The new beta driver works for x-fi-YEAH, I have sound!!

I have installed:

Virtual CloneDrive (to use ISO images)
Opera
Firefox
Office 2000
Windows Live Messenger (it must be downloaded)
AVG anti-virus
PC Mark05
Microsoft SQLServer 2005 Express Edition
Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition
Unreal Tournament 2004

In PCMark05 the benchmark results were:

Beta 2
CPU-1823
Memory-1486

Pre-RC1
CPU-1975
Memory-1544

In Unreal Tournament 2004:

Beta 2
UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-02-15_17.02]
Windows NT 6.0 (Build: 5384)
AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1602 MHz with 510MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 (Microsoft Corporation) (5673)

dm-rankin?spectatoronly=true?numbots=12?quickstart=true?attractcam=true -benchmark -seconds=77 -ini=default.ini -exec=..\Benchmark\Stuff\botmatchexec.txt

2.822535 / 52.949974 / 118.329605 fps rand[24357]
Score = 53.104897

Pre-RC1
UT2004 Build UT2004_Build_[2005-02-15_17.02]
Windows NT 6.0 (Build: 5536)
AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1602 MHz with 510MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM) (5673)

dm-rankin?spectatoronly=true?numbots=12?quickstart=true?attractcam=true -benchmark -seconds=77 -exec=..\Benchmark\Stuff\botmatchexec.txt

13.115746 / 71.600143 / 132.319275 fps rand[20096]
Score = 71.723190

As you can see it is faster, so I am going to play a little UT2004.

I saw a small blurt about the videocard, can't remember where i saw it. I have a 256 mb nvidia 7800gt, it said it could use upto 512 and referenced system ram for the difference.

Could this be part of the new performance for games/video section???

Don't forget direct X 10

I have also read about new videocards coming out about the same time.
They say todays hotest vidcards use up to 115 watts from powersupply, the new ones will use up to 300 watts per card-requiring a very large powersuppy.

Fear would not load the installer.

Farcry is loading as we speak. GTA San Andras loaded no issues.

Steam and all my games on it is working.
While I download them, I will be loading office 07 and Visio 07-both loaded no issues.

O&O third party defrager won't work-trying diskeeper next.

Well, it seems it took only one day to hit M$ 100,000 downloads and now the rc1 trial; downloads are done-ie no more-sorry.

I downloaded diskeeper home trial and it seeems to be working just fine.

I have about 30 gig's on the drive now.

I am considering adding a second drive to move the paging file over on to.

More as it comes.
