The Boulder, CO District Attorney will not bring any charges against John Mark Karr for the murder of JonBenet Ramsey nearly ten years ago, according to the public defender and press sources. Karr was expelled from Thailand last week at the request of Colorado, but DNA evidence gathered from Karr after his return to the U.S. didn't match DNA found at the murder scene. It is unclear whether Colorado officials will release him or return him to California, where he still faces unsettled misdemeanor charges.

www.cnn.com
BOULDER, Colorado (CNN) -- The DNA sample taken from suspect John Mark Karr does not match DNA found on JonBenet Ramsey's body and no charges will be filed against the schoolteacher who claimed he was with the child when she died, CNN affiliate KUSA reported.

KUSA, based in Denver, Colorado, quoted two sources in a bulletin on its Web site:

"9NEWS has confirmed from two sources that the DNA sample taken from John Mark Karr is not a match with the foreign DNA found on JonBenet Ramsey's body when she was murdered in 1996. 9NEWS has also learned the Boulder County District Attorney's office will not file charges against Karr in connection with the Ramsey case."

This whole case has been nothing but bizarre. Colorado really has some egg on its face after creating this press circus, bringing this guy back from Thailand first class, extraditing him from California, only to drop all charges before they were even brought.

How this settles out and who gets blamed will be very interesting.

Update:

This has reportedly been confirmed by the Boulder DA.

Maybe i'm too suspicious, but i think there is more to this story than we can see.

There was a DA talking yesterday and she said this man was NOT guilty, and further went on to say that she thinks it was the father (this was before the dna test) who did this to her.
She was asked why the father's DNA did not match and she said the test proved inconclusive...(years ago).I wonder why this guy out of so many who claimed to have killed her was brought forth as the culprit.
So many nuts, so little time.

I don't think it was just the lack of DNA evidence. Since writing this, the DA has said they had absolutely nothing on him other than his own mad ravings. No circumstantial story to tell, nothing concrete that put him Boulder at the time of the murder, nothing. They had no other choice but to not file charges.

12 others applied for the job also.

That is what was said yesterday.

So what did it cost for Colorado to hire lawyers in Thailand? And then to buy at least 4 first class tickets from Bangkok to Los Angeles? And then to pay LA to hold him in jail until the court ordered his transfer to Boulder. Then the cost per day in Boulder. And the cost to hire a Public Defender for Mr Karr. And the cost of who knows how many deputy prosecutors put on the case to review tons of old papers, tapes and things. And the cost of the DNA comparison tests. Finally, he is still in jail and will be transferred to LA if they make a proper request within the time allotted. Usually 60 days.

$30,000?

Hey, this gets the local DA votes and its your tax dollar at work.

I don't think Tracey is going to get off as easy as he has in the past when he's submitted his "clues" to the authorities on possible (read turned out to be false) suspects.

This time his proverbial tit may be in the proverbial ringer.

He reminds me of Lyin Ryan.

Karr if involved was there, but it was mum and dad that killed that poor girl.

No footprints in the snow, no way in for an adult, the terrible scream that got cut off, the dad removing evidence from the crime scene, the fake reactions by both mum and dad, the signs of the multiple rapes, the actual name of the poor child...

damn the lists long, but at least the mum is roasting in hell now.

I think you've pretty much summed it up. Chances are parents were making a buck on the whole incident, maybe Karr was filming for profit.

There has always been the rumour of a snuff film of the murder happening - Maybe Karr was the camera man /

One thing that is of note - The ransom note of $118,000. That was the exact amount that the dad gave himself as a bonus that xmas as head of a software company. weird huh?? oh and the writing was in the mothers hand...oh AND there was a practise note found...

Oh Mums roastie toastie at the pit of hell right now.... deserves it as well. dads gonna follow real soon though - this pressure and opening of the case again will make him crack - I think Karr has a guilty mind and needs to share it all, thats why he knows details that others don't, and explains the rush to get him painted as a nutter so no one listens to him. i think Boulder as a town has some thing very very nasty going on inside it.

I don't think Colorado has done anything else other than what they had to do. It's not wise to not follow up on leads, even flimsy ones. There were very many wholes in this individual's story, but if he was the one and he was not extradited, there would have been hell to pay.

Besides, the guy is facing child porn charges in California. Getting this guy out of circulation is a win-win situation for all.

The blame game is already on. Here's what the Governor of Colorado had to say:

CBS Denver

Governor Bill Owens released a statement late Monday afternoon saying, "I find it incredible that Boulder authorities wasted thousands of taxpayer dollars to bring Karr to Colorado given such a lack of evidence. Mary Lacy should be held accountable for the most extravagant and expensive DNA test in Colorado history."

OK its a long read folks, but i finally found what i was looking for.

To sum it up, there are many many pointers and 80 %'s that point to the mother. If this posters information is correct (It tallies with bolders investigation well) then the Mom and Dad are guilty as Hell.

Oh and a very interesting thing. The little Girls name is a femminised version of the ancient babylonian devil. Spooky and wrong indeed

Very sad news, but for some reason that man from the beginning didn't look right.

He will probably claim insanity and will get off easy from the pornography charges in California.

Karr...anyone notice how he ties that huge belt so tight around that tiny frame?

He is a very odd man. He should do time for the way he looks.

But anyway, i've always thought the parents did this to her. Sick.

The most offensive part of this whole story to me is how the media turned the arrest event into a three ring circus and blew it up like it had merit. Jonbenet media freak show made a mockery of a tragic event.

Karr needed a way out of Thailand and Boulder paid for his ride home. So who's the real kooks here? Media, Boulder authorities or Karr?

edit, your right Grady...brain cramp.

Taiwan? I'm assuming you mean Thailand.

I think you're right. I'm pretty sure I heard that he was facing some kind of sexual misconduct charges in Thailand and, from what I've heard, the last place anyone would care to be is in a Thai prison.

If that's true, then maybe they should send him back. Let them have him for awhile.

What did he do over there? More perversion?

This was the speculation going around early on in the case, but it's been flatly denied by all governments involved.

He was only arrested because Colorado requested the U.S. to request Thailand to do it.

Even though there are several references in internet discussions as to his having been charged in Thailand and I'm quite certain that's what I heard, this does not seem to be the case, according to these articles.

Karr, who was not charged with any crime in Thailand, was being expelled because he is regarded as an undesirable person. He was not being extradited.

www.wbt.com...

Karr is not accused of any offenses in Thailand. In May another American teacher was deported to face charges in the US after spending a year in a Thai jail for sexually abusing teenage boys at his school. Earlier this month, an Australian teacher was charged in Jakarta, Indonesia, with molesting street children.

I read that whole post. Wow.

That guy makes a LOT of unsubstantiated claims. Like the part about Patsy being a MKUltra sex slave like Jeff Gannon? I've heard the story before, and it's sickening. If it's true, we should be calling for heads.

But some proof would be nice.
