I grew up not to far away from this city, and i have heard that there are many secret soviet bases based in the area. Underground bases, tunnels etc... i would like to know if this is true

Yes, there are. Seems theres alot of stuff involved with space flight in that area. Like the cosmodrome.

I would imagine there are even more secret sites in the area. but the Soviets were alot better at hiding them from the world.
