im just shocked at how IKEA could offer a price like this and make any profit from it. thats right, ikea in alberta calgary, offering not one, two hot dogs with fixings and a pop for the price of 1.75.

i think thats pretty unreal dont you!!!

Well consider that there is about $.05 worth of "meat" in a hotdog and someone's pulling down a decent margin regardless of the cost.

There are places in NYC that just sell hotdogs for around the same price...they get so much business I guess it is still profitable.

But in the case of Ikea, the food may just be a loss leader, i.e. they lose money on the food but it attracts more business to their furniture that more than makes up for it.

I was just going to type the same thing. Loss leaders are a great way to get business, just look at all those bars that give away free food from 5pm - 7pm.
