I'm amazed, disgusted actualy, at how we in the west can chide those in the Middle East using inhumane and irational means to fight occupations and foriegn soldiers while we all the same have done nothing but the same. The reaction to spurious acts of terrorism was even more terrorism on a state level and with much larger ramnifications for generations to come. More importantly, it's the use of violence that has garunteed the west to be the last to purport itself as a democraticly adjusted society whose ideals wrap themselves in diplomacy and reason. By firstly excercising aggresive means to battle terrorism we admited globaly that we have lost all power of persuasion, reason and diplomacy; by allocating more money towards military endevours than social services, we admit to the world that we are more concerned with increasing our confidence in violent means to react to international crises.

What do we show our children in school as they age, to never resort to violence if a bully acts in such an agressive manner and instead contact a teacher or a medium to deal with the problem and yet how many times have we gone to the UN to broker peace with supposed agressive nations without the intent to react violently regardless?

Its double standards on both ends.

In the middle east, these same people who decry the US occupation of Iraq, the fighting in Palestine, acts of abuse committed by US soldiers, are the same people who themselves go around torturing, murdering, and committing crimes against their own fellow Muslims. They do not want the US out of Iraq for peaceful purposes. Its simply a case of a foreign intruder interfering with their internal wars.

If the US leaves Iraq, they will go back to committing terrible atrocities against one another as they did before even Saddam was around.

The hypocrisy is on both sides. The current administrations in the west talk about the oppresion, abuse, and inhumanity of the terrorists and their tactics, when in Europe, they antagonize religous groups, and the US runs dungeons like Gitmo. Black ops are run.

Both sides of the clonflict here are dead wrong.
