Anyone ever seen someone with 2 sets of teeth???

I'm not sure if this is the place for this so I will try to keep this brief.

Back a few weeks ago, myself and a buddy were in the process of launching his boat to go fishing, and another boat with a guy and I am assuming his son pulled up to load their boat on the other side of the ramp.

Well, nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first, the guys had an awesome 24 foot fishing boat.

My friend and I engaged them in normal chit chat, " hows the fishing, how far down was the thermocline, how crowded the hot spots were" ,.... you know, friendly conversation.

Well, the guys were ordinary looking, and friendly enough, answered our questions, heck, they even showed us their full limit of trout and salmon.

During our chat we noticed that they both talked with a lisp and had thin pointy teeth, but we didn't think much about it.

UNTIL,... he told us about one of the fish they caught that had a lamprey attatched to it and his son freaked out saying "what the heck is that thing", then he proceeded to laugh and that's when we seen another set of teeth that looked the same as the visible ones, except it looked like they were growing out of the roof of his mouth!

I think he realized that we seen his other teeth, because we both had this look on our faces like "what the" ??? and then he was like " well enough chit chat we gotta go,... see ya and good luck"

Is this just a freak thing that happens or what?

Has anyone else ever heard of or seen anything similar????

i'v got 3 teeth in the roof of my mouth, just behind the normal row, there all at the sides of my mouth near the 4th or 5th teeth from the rear, one on the left side, 2 on the right (left sides gonna be pulled soon), its caused when theres not enough space in the gum, some of the teeth get pushed to the side and grow behind the others, not unusual apparently


was it a WHOLE row of teeth or just a few?? i s'pose (dont quote, i could be wrong) if someone is born with a smaller gums then normal they could get what looks like a second row

This dude had 2 full rows of teeth on the top, but not sure about the bottom.

Either way, really nice fellas, just a little startling when you're not expecting it.

I've never seen anyone with 2 full rows of teeth, but I have heard of people whose baby teeth don't dislodge. They get sort of, pushed up and out, and the new teeth start growing in. It's pretty easy to get it taken care of if you've got insurance or some money, but if you haven't got those luxuries, you're stuck with the snaggle-tooth look.

I don't know if they'll eventually release, or if they're rock solid in the gum-line.

Yes, some people have 2 full sets of teeth. It's pretty rare, though. Another thing that happens is that sometimes a person will grow several sets of teeth right after another. We have a friend like that, he grew 5 sets of teeth one after the other. He finally did run out of teeth and now has only a few left. Go figure. I don't think he took care of them very well, though, thinking that he had unlimited sets of teeth. Unfortunately, he didn't get rich from the tooth fairy, though, maybe she only does the first set of teeth?

Hi Forestlady,... I've heard of people growing an additional set of "adult teeth" that replaces the first set.

What was wierd is this guy's teeth (both sets) looked more like baby teeth, really narrow, except they were long and pointy, 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch long, that and they looked yellowish. (probably just bad hygeine or calcium deficient)

Is this what your friends teeth looked like??

I have never seen or known anyone personally who has two rows of teeth but that is suppose to be a genetic trait of the offspring of the nephilim talked about in the bible. Gen 6 says that they were in the earth before and after the flood.. They were suppose to have two full rows of teeth and six fingers and toes on each hand and foot.

I kid you not, this is the truth.

I went to school with a girl who had 2 perfect rows of teeth. It was cruel and unusual the punishment dished out to her by other girls (and some boys), but man her teeth seemed to fill all of her mouth. her gums were deep and when she spoke it was with a lisp and slight speech impediment (slow and stuttery)

looking back she had other problems, but it is to this day one thing I will never forget about school days.

For all those that remember - JAWS. duuurrrhhhh dum, dddduuuurrhhh dum.....

School days hey? those were the cruelst days of our lives. and we loved it.

I don't think they had 6 digits on their hands that I can recall because they held up a few of their bigger fish, and I'm sure I or my buddy would have noticed that, but then again, who goes around counting peoples fingers or toes.

Hi D4rk, do you recall the shape of her teeth??

Did they look like normal adult teeth or long and skinny like I described in a previous response??

Speaking of school days, I do remember one kid that got picked on because where his 2 front teeth were, it looked like he only had one large tooth. (the size of 2 normal front teeth wide)

I'm not sure that it was one single tooth or his front teeth grew together and then came in looking like one large one.

When I was a kid, one of my friends had a complete double row of upper teeth. He had the entire row behind pulled when he went into the Army.

Yes, some time ago....the person looked mentally challenged, i dont know if that had anything to do with it or not....I think it can happen. I would assume a dentist can remove the set closest to the inside of the mouth and it could be fixed.

A friend of mine at school had a third set of teeth that showed up in xrays beneath her second set. I don't know if they ever presented themselves though as I've not seen her for years.

This multiple teeth thing isn't just for humans, I thought I was going to have problems with my kitten recently as she retained her milk canines for weeks after her adult teeth had come through. Luckily they finally fell out just last week, or they could have caused problems

Wow,I happen to have a second row on the lower portion of my teeth, know one but those intimate realize this, I do not have a lisp or look any different then any other person. Actually I didnt realize this untill a dentist pointed it out. Is this really an issue?

my bf told me when he was little he had 3 sets of front teeth. that scares me ti death cause i have a baby and i dont know if it is genetic or not. Imagine the teasing he would go through and the cost of dental bills... it probably was fluke but ill just keep my fingers crossed and pray lol

Sparse hair?

I believe that there is a genetic disorder that can do this, and the teeth are slim and yellowish like you describe. Usually they have sparse hair if I remember correctly. I know a couple of people with this disorder (one family where some people have it), but I cannot for the life of me remember what it is called.

Personal Disclosure: I personally at the age of 15, with the onset of wisdom teeth, suddenly noticed my entire lower mandible (jaw) below my tongue was growing and that two large solid and sharp nodules directly below and besides my lower canines were the most prominent of the bony/tooth growths. When routine school dentistry checks identified this I was sent to a specialist who diagnosed that I had a genetic disposition to produce a 2nd set of lower Adult canines. He recommended to me and my parents that I let them grow to full size and then have them removed (it took 45 mins total dental surgery time and I was fully awake for the entire process and my mum and her mum each have one of my removed canines as memento's of me). It took six months to fully grow those 2 teeth and also allow my new wisdom teeth to bed in a bit and for my mandible (jaw) to stop growing the bone constructed to hold the 2 new canines. It had both benefits and downsides...such as I could lift my tongue up and literally strip a cooked chicken leg whole in about 1 second by locking it between the two lower canines and quickly rotating the entire leg bone, but I quickly stopped doing this because there is a very small thin bone that is also a part of the chicken leg and it nearly always bit me by stabbing me inside my mouth somewhere.
The major downside was my tongue was raised up and sat on these 2 new teeth and early on they cut the out of the bottom of my tongue but after munching on large leg of lamb bones for a fortnight they were well worn down and although I had to slightly compensate when speaking, I never developed a lisp or speech problems (except for few days after their removal as my tongue had so much "new" room!). I still have the bony growths that housed these 2 canines but they cause me absolutely no discomfort or disability whatsoever.

i have roots of one of them types of teeth in my mouth ... dentist told me its an "impactedmolar", like the previous op said, its due to their not being enough space so it gets pushed back..

as for 2 rows of teeth, .....im gonna say their inbread or something lol .. as thats just plain messed up!

If there is something wrong with this guy then I need to know because a too grew a second row of upper teeth. When I was a young child I was cursed with buck teeth; so we thought. My parents were poor and a dentist was someone you saw when you were close to death or thought you were going to die. Well I was lucky enough to fall down a flight of stairs and send my teeth through my upper lip. Since this scared my parents enough to take me to the ER we found out that my buck teeth were not an accident. I had buck teeth because I had another row of teeth that were growing in and there was a battle going on for the space in my mouth. The doctor said that I was a bi-numerary. A condition that is rare but common enough that they knew how to correct it with surgery.

Also I found out that certain medications can cause children to have malformations in their teeth. So he is just a rare old cuss like me who's parents could not afford a dentist or he had to take medication as a child that caused his teeth to grow in with binumerations.

Or he is my long lost brother from Andromeda come to look for me.
