Renowned Chinese attorney Gao Zhisheng was kidnapped on August 15 by several plainclothes policemen while visiting his critically-ill brother-in-law at his sister's home in Dongying City, Shangdong Province. This was confirmed after contact with Gao had been lost for 24 hours as all communication channels were cut off by the Chinese Communist Party authorities, and by verification from other sources.

I know that the title of your thread is based in what that article says, but if they were authorities, what makes this a kidnap instead of a "normal" (for China) arrest?

goooooooooooooooooood.the epoch times.i see it as an awful media.most of the news about china on it are forged.i hope you not to be too innocent to identify the real and the false ones.think and read more before you conclude something, please.to you westerners ,china may be a mystical or even an evil country.this is because most of your medias are selective about the news from china.all bad news appear on them.you definitely don't konw what is going on in the country.THINK.if china is as evil as what you see and read from your medias, how will the rest of the world react?don't worry too much, you so-called world cop.
by the way ,i am quite curious about the hypothesis that the 9.11 was an inside job.may i say that your govt is evil, huh?i'll keep paying a close attention to it.

ccp has kidnapped many innocent persons illegally, ccp has kidnapped the govenment, the authorities to do the evil.

These kind of kidnapping crimes are not based on normal laws.

So, ccp is kidnapping innocent persons.

Strange, I had the idea that the CCP had won the Chinese civil war after the end of WWII, and the present government and authorities were put in place after that, while the old government retreated to Taiwan, but I could be wrong...

These kind of kidnapping crimes are not based on normal laws.

So, are they based in special laws? In that case they are legal.

As I do not know the Chinese laws I can not say if this was based in any current law or not.

In Portugal, before 1974, this type of police action was perfectly legal, it could be against the human rights but it was not against the Portuguese laws.

So, ccp is kidnapping innocent persons.

Oh, the trial took place already and it was considered innocent? OK.

As you donot know much about the situation in China, read this artical please:

CHINA – The trial of blind Chinese human rights activist, Mr. Chen Guangcheng was scheduled for August 18. On the 17th, his defending lawyers, Xu Zhiyong, Zhang Lihui and Li Fangping were charged with theft and arrested by the police. All of them were detained at Jiehu police station. Zhang Lihui and Li Fangping were released after two hours of interrogation. Xu Zhiyong is still in custody.

Attorney Gao Zhisheng was secretly arrested by the authorities on the 15th. Renowned Chinese lawyers Zhang Jiankang and Li Heping said that this is a large scale operation carried out by the Chinese Communist regime. They expressed their strong protests against the arrests of Gao Zhisheng as well as Chen Guangcheng's lawyers, and urged international community to pay close attention to the Chinese Communist regime's latest movements.

How can you know what I know about the situation in China by what I have said?

When you said

So, ccp is kidnapping innocent persons.
I thought you were talking about Gao Zhisheng.

Now you direct me to an article about the trial of Chen Guangcheng. In that article they say also that Xu Zhiyong, Zhang Lihui and Li Fangping were arrested and Xu Zhiyong is still in custody.

I thought that this thread was about the "kidnapping" of Gao Zhisheng, but it can also be a thread about the Human Rights situation in China. If that is the case, then I think that another thread specifically about that would be better.

Right, Gao is one of the innocent persons who have been arrested, but there are a lot more.

Gao Zhisheng is one of the lawyers of Chen Guangcheng, so it is connected.

More about Gao's being arrested:

Mr. Guo said that Gao's arrest this time was either an attempt by the Chinese communist regime to settle old debts or to sound things out. But this move will certainly provoke people's anger all over the world and bring about an "unprecedented scale" of rescue and democratic movement tide. Following is the conversation between the reporter and Mr Guo.

Who says they are innocent? The media or the judicial system?

If they go on trial and are considered guilty without any real evidence we can say that the judgment was fixed to have that result regardless of the proofs presented.

If he never goes on trial and just "disappears" like many others, we still cannot say if he was guilty or innocent because he wasn't charged with anything.

Gao Zhisheng is one of the lawyers of Chen Guangcheng, so it is connected.

Then why do they say:

source
They expressed their strong protests against the arrests of Gao Zhisheng as well as Chen Guangcheng's lawyers, and urged international community to pay close attention to the Chinese Communist regime's latest movements.

Doesn't that mean that Gao Zhisheng isn't one of Chen Guangcheng's lawyers?

I read some of them (I do not know what do you want me to read, you sent a link to a page with 10 articles and links to more 16 pages like that, I am not going to read 160 pages) and in any of those I read could I find something that said that Gao Zhisheng is Chen Guangcheng's lawyer.

Also, I started to notice even more that those articles are not what we could call independent, so I will stop using that site as a reference for this type of news.

Exposing evil ccp is good for the world.

But it depends of how it is done.

Saying the truth and being impartial is the best way to do it.

One of the things I noticed was that in that site they always say "in mainland China". As far as I know there is only one China.

And they say the times they want that the CCP is "evil", they should prove, not just say it lots of times to see if people believe them. The title of the article that was the origin of this thread is another example, they say that Gao Zhisheng was "kidnapped", but in the interviews they have on the site the other people say that he was "arrested".

I do not like when people present things in "this is a fact just because I say it" way.

This is my last post in this thread.

PS: I know what is happening in China, and I have known it for at least 20 years.

Gao Zhisheng is not one of Chen Guangcheng lawyers. It's possible that he was involved in his defence informally, but Gao had his licence revoked last year for being a little too outspoken.

I probably wouldn't call it a kidnapping, but it is definitely a politically motivated detainment.
