Three popes

I was remembering some old history when I went online and researched the period again. It is very interesting, two new popes springing up due to rampant corruption and then the Council of Constance shutting down the other two popes with the complicity of the kings of Europe who were in part against the pope. Does it have any relation to the Illumanati, Masons, etc.(Idon't have alot of knowledge on them) or was there a conspiracy among the kings?
