I understand the reasons underlying the policy of the Powers That Be, but I think that it would have been in the best interests of ATS for Chris Kenworthy to be interviewed. In particular, I would have been very interested in reading considerably more detail about:

(a) the techniques that he used, and (especially)

(b) any recommendations that he had for spotting the use of such techiniques by other hoaxers (sorry, "artists").

I don't like denying ourselves a potentially useful source of information.

Well, the T&Cs say "You will not post any material that is knowingly false, misleading, or inaccurate".

Chris didn't post anything here, yet the request for an interview is being presented as if he had.

The reason why the interview with Chris was denied had nothing to do with the T&C's of this board. You said it yourself:

Not really, you would have people saying "They are so obviously fake" or words to that affect, based solely on preserving their pride and credibility. The aim was to show that even self proclaimed experts have no idea what is real and what is fake.

I'm guessing since you chose to say "you would have people" this refers to others than yourself? Who are you to make judgement on what others need to understand how easily a hoax is perpetrated? Even arguing how this hoax should be regarded as necessary so these people can be tought a lesson? Priceless.

Now if you're so impressed with what you feel Chris has accomplished and really want to interview him, what's to stop you from doing so on your own?

I still think we need a thread that goes over how people create hoaxs with CGI. I am into CGI(both 2d and 3d), as well as alot of others here.I bet we could make a huge reasourse describing the various methods and techniques used.If anything it would help in raising awareness of what to look for.

Easy, there Durden, you've stuffed quite a few words into my mouth there, back up and stop creating your own argument.

In my first post on this thread I already conceded that I would have been fooled by some of those clips, so am unsure as to why you have just gone into a rant, I thought we were actually conversing civily.

Although fooled by the clips no one can conclude that they have just witnessed a bonafide Alien life form flying a spacecraft.

They can conclude that they have no idea what they just witnessed, which is where I tend to land, inconclusive but not dismissed.

I reserve judgement on anything I see on the web and that includes individuals, I certainly do not generalise using sweeping statements as insinuated by your reply/rant.

Having said that, I would like a reply on the subject of the thread that ArMap supplied a link for above, tell me that there is not a smidgen of hypocracy concerning it.

Now if you're so impressed with what you feel Chris has accomplished and really want to interview him, what's to stop you from doing so on your own?

Nothing of course, but I do believe that other members here at ATS would like to put their own questions to him.
