The "Most Moral Army" in the world is deep in Lebanon and is unable to supply food to their soldiers.(As though Lebanon was so huge and far away!) As a result they have been given instructions to break into stores and steal food. IMO this is truly pathetic.

IDF general: Troops lacking food can steal from Lebanese stores

By Haaretz Service

"If our fighters deep in Lebanese territory are left without food our water, I believe they can break into local Lebanese stores to solve that problem," Brigadier General Avi Mizrahi, the head of the Israel Defense Forces logistics branch, said Monday.

Mizrahi's comments followed complaints by IDF soldiers regarding the lack of food on the front lines.

"If what they need to do is take water from the stores, they can take," Mizrahi told Army Radio.

According to Mizrahi, the logistics branch is prepared for the possibility that combat soldiers will have to remain in Lebanon during the winter.

Funny that when the Katrina survivors were taking from stores when they were hungry and shocked, they were considered as looters who should be rounded up and shipped off to the closest closed military base.

Oh how words and thoughts can be presented to achieve a means.

You are going to equate victims of a catastrophe to soldiers in a wrongful war? I have heard it all now. People have been starving for 2 weeks because Israel would not allow aid through and you are comparing IDF soldiers to survivors of a terrible catastrophe. Thats really a sorry comparison.

I think you misunderstood him, i think he was pointing out the irony of calling survivors of a natural catastrophe who were gathering foot and water "looters", but soldiers in a wrongful war like you said are not called anything.

Let the looting and pillaging begin.

Now that everyone is probably ridiculing them, and rightly so, they have changed their minds and decided that this is not what they said.

They remind me of a Clown troupe in the circus I take my kids to see. One clown stumbles over the other and the rest trip and fall into a big pile of clowns. Then they get into a small car piled with clowns and drive off.

IDF: Comments attributed to logistics branch head incorrect

By Haaretz Staff

The IDF Spokesman's Office said Monday that comments attributed to Brigadier General Avi Mizrahi, the head of the army's logistics branch, to the effect that soldiers deep inside Lebanese territory without food could steal from local stores, had not been made by him.

Earlier Monday, Army Radio's website had quoted Mizrahi saying, "If our fighters deep in Lebanese territory are left without food or water, I believe they can break into local Lebanese stores to solve that problem."

So what happens when a Lebanese person breaks into a store. They get shot for looting, while foreign troops arent looting, they are "surviving". Wonderful

This is plain legalized pillaging. First off, israel is an industrialized nation that is more than self sustaining in their food production, while Lebanon is unstable and has alot more poverty. And Its not like israel has to cross oceans and continents. They are right next door. There is absolutely no reason they cannot feed their soldiers.

To me, this is like letting Bill Gates break into a trailer park and steal some family's stockpile of pork and beans.

Thank you Pita for clarifying my statement. You were exactly right in your interpretation of my post.

It figures the General denies his statement now, although with all the atrocities of this maddness why bother to try to clean up that little slip?

There has been so much said on this subject all over ATS I am pretty speechless and it is terribly confusing to try to understand what is what. One thing you can be sure about is by following the symbolic representations between the USA and Isreal and the blind support of Isreal by our country I don't trust anything about Isreal. I can't even figure out who, what, or why Isreal even is.

They make it seem as though they are so far away! I think Lebanon is like 6hrs from each border to border in each direction! Their northern border is 20km away. A Pizza delivery guy could make the run!. As a matter of fact they constantly advertise a "Buy a Soldier a Pizza and Coke" donation scheme. It just sounds so lame. Its just an excuse to trash the businesses and to hurt the economy more. They purposefully destroyed their tourism industry by going into Baalbek, totally ruining the beach area for at least 10 years and destroying Beirut which has a lively nightlife and several casinos.

If you ask me, their tourist industry is suffering a great deal, this will probably help them by not having competition and keeping Israeli's and Euros from going next door to hang out and spend money.

I honestly do not think Israel's tourist industry can be saved. The place is forever in the crosshairs of terrorists and guerillas, which I do not think will stop. Plus, the military being like it is.........

But its plausible. However, Israel could never compete tourism wise with Egypt, its other neighbor.

Many pilgrims go to Israel every year. They have many sights to see and they also have some nice beaches as well. The Dead sea has many SPA's that people go to as well from all over.
