Any idea why jets are flying over the Adirondack Mountains (near Lake George)?

We've been coming up here on vacation for 6 years or so and today is the first time I've seen them. 4 to be exact. I'm not jetphile so I couldn't identify them right away. I didn't have my camera during the last flyover but I'm ready for next time. Theres been 4 jets at least...


If I had to guess, I'd say they were A10 Warthogs. From google image, they look identical to what I saw.


If anyone's curious, I'm in Ticonderoga, NY way up in the Adirondack Mountains (zip code 12883).


Is there a military base up here or something that I'm unaware of?
