CBS's Mike Wallace has interviewed Iranian President Ahmadinejad for 60 minutes. Wallace was interviewed about the interview on talk-radio by Sean Hannity. In the Hannity interview Wallace corrected the mainstream image of Ahmadinejad and of what the man believes.

USA Today

The 88-year-old Wallace, who is semi-retired, traveled to interview the Iranian president, whom he described as "impressive," "interesting" and "obviously smart as hell."

In an interview with talk-radio host Sean Hannity, Wallace defended Ahmadinejad's actions and statements. In the transcript posted on Radio Blogger, Wallace said the Iranian leader's comments about wiping Israel off the map aren't horrific.

[...]

"Yes, he says wipe off the map, and of course I asked him over and over about that," said Wallace. "He says in effect, hey, it's perfectly sensible to do … pardon me. It's perfectly sensible for them … it's perfectly sensible, if there is a Holocaust, and let's buy the fact that there was a Holocaust. Where did the Holocaust take place? Did it take place in an Arab neighborhood? Did it take place in Jerusalem? No. It took place in Germany. Then it seems to me, under those circumstances, take Israel, the Zionist entity, he called it, move it to Germany. Move it to Europe. That's where it happened."

Hannity pressed Wallace further by accusing President Ahmadinejad of being anti-semitic.

USA Today

Wallace said Ahmadinejad doesn't like the United States because it is supporting Israel, however, he is not anti-Semitic.

"So you don't think he's an anti-Semite?" said Hannity.

"He himself, an anti-Semite, an anti-Jew ... anti-Jew?" said Wallace.

"Yes," said Hannity.

"No, I don't," said Wallace.

All of which fits the picture of Iran, the nation with the largest population of jewish people in the Middle East outside of Israel. Iran, and it's leader, are not anti-semitic and it's is pure slander to say otherwise. Criticism of Israel and of Zionism is not anti-semitic. Let's hope the mainstream can be freed of its misrepresentations by interviews such as this. Misrepresentations concocted directly by Ahmadinejad's enemies.

The full unedited 90 minute interview will be aired on C-SPAN on the request of President Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad quotes

Holocuast denial

"They have invented a myth that Jews were massacred and place this above God, religions and the prophets."

"We ask the West to remove what they created sixty years ago and if they do not listen to our recommendations, then the Palestinian nation and other nations will eventually do this for them."

"The real Holocaust is what is happening in Palestine where the Zionists avail themselves of the fairy tale of Holocaust as blackmail and justification for killing children and women and making innocent people homeless."

"The West claims that more than six million Jews were killed in World War II and to compensate for that they established and support Israel. If it is true that the Jews were killed in Europe, why should Israel be established in the East, in Palestine?"

"If you have burned the Jews, why don't you give a piece of Europe, the United States, Canada or Alaska to Israel. Our question is, if you have committed this huge crime, why should the innocent nation of Palestine pay for this crime?"
Threats against Israel

"Anybody who recognizes Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury."

"Remove Israel before it is too late and save yourself from the fury of regional nations."

"The skirmishes in the occupied land are part of a war of destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war will be defined in Palestinian land. As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map."

"If the West does not support Israel, this regime will be toppled. As it has lost its raison d' tre, Israel will be annihilated."

"Israel is a tyrannical regime that will one day will be destroyed."

"Israel is a rotten, dried tree that will be annihilated in one storm."
Relations with West

"[There is] no significant need for the United States."

"Iranians possess delicate characteristics. They introduce their merits, which are extremely attractive to whole the world."

"We are ready to hold dialogue with all countries of the world except for the Israeli regime."

"Those who insulted the prophet should know that you cannot obscure the sun with a handful of dust. The dust will just get back and blind your own eyes."

"We increasingly see that people around the world are flocking towards a main focal point - that is the Almighty God. My question for you is, 'Do you not want to join them?'"

"There are no limits to our dialogue."

"Do you think you are dealing with a 4-year-old child to whom you can give some walnuts and chocolates and get gold from him?"
Conspiracy theory

"Could [9/11] be planned and executed without coordination with intelligence and security services - or their extensive infiltration? Of course this is just an educated guess. Why have the various aspects of the attacks been kept secret? Why are we not told who botched their responsibilities? And, why aren't those responsible and the guilty parties identified and put on trial?"
Freedom of speech

"We believe that accurate dissemination of news and information is necessary for political growth and awareness as well as effective interaction among nations in today's world.

Let’s not go overboard here, perhaps it should be pointed out here that <25k remain in Iran (pop. 68 million). Iranian Jews are often referred to as ‘invisible’ and they are invisible from contemporary Iranian history, literature, culture and society and have token representation in parliament (along with the

Criticism has many levels and it is a very common argument to say “I/we are not ant-‘x’ rather we are pro-‘y’”…pure smoke...

Shariat became the supreme legal code inside Iran in1979 and Iran is a no doubt a theocracy. In short, gender and religious discriminations are part of the law; leaders need not publicly profess what the law requires and already provides.

Example: Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians are not legally forbidden from government sector employment. However; Iranian authorities will only hire Muslims. Jewish money can not be sent out of the country, exterior travel by Jews is extremely restricted and families can no longer leave as a unit, Jews have access to universities but can not enter into post graduate studies…all of this and more can be found through numerous human rights and religious organizations, most of which came to light during the “Shiraz 13” arrests. Here is an article mentioning some of the above items, you can find plenty.
