Motives. Intentionality.

If "they" are visiting us, what do "they" want?

That is a rhetorical question.

Here is the question i would like to hear (read) your answer to:

What is the greatest resource in the universe?

That's easy,

Sentient Life.

Without Sentient life, there would be nothing here to know the universe exists.

"I think therefor I am."

energy---free energy

I think there are many different reasons not just one.

Nutrients. (Food)

Without it, all other resources a species may have at their disposal are useless.

I believe they are monitoring how crazy we do with our armement.

They are probably quite shocked to see that some goverment don't care killing kids and women to get a cheap supply of oil...

This whole nuclear watch makes so much sense.

They aren't after food, water or whatever. And they probably have technology to transmute elements into whatever they need.

Gravity. Without gravity you've got absolutely nothing...and that stuff is everywhere man! Even in the vacumn of space you are still in a universe being ruled by gravity.

Also IPODS. Even aliens need a place to store all their funky-hippie alien rock music.

Or maybe it's waffles, never underestimate the value of a good waffle.

Though I've said it before and I'll say it again, Aliens could be coming here for a number of reasons.

A) As far as I know there aren't a lot of Earth type planets in our relative neighborhood, so we could be sort of like a gas station/diner in the middle of the desert. Last chance for fuel, food and probing for the next six thousand light years or whatever.

B) Earth is the spring break capital of the universe and the rectal probe is the intergalactic equivelent of cow tipping.

C) We ourselves are some pretty entertaining monkies, not too mention all the other life both plant and animal running around. If I were some sort of alien Steve Corwin I'd find earth incredibly fascinating. Try doing a tag and release on Star Jones, that's gotta be tough.

IMO of course.

I'd like to change my answer to waffles.
Because it's true...they are so necessary.

Literally? That would have to be God, wouldn't it?

But I don't think that's where you were going.

Tough question if you factor in the possibility of ET. Resource=asset, something of value, supply that can be drawn upon when needed. What we value may have no relevance to what "they" value.

But having regurgitated all of that, I'll agree with Semper Fortis - sentient life.

I knew it was waffles. And they said I was wasting my time with UFO research. Bah!

Without a doubt, the most valuable resource in the universe is cigarettes.

Without them, I would become irritable and violent, and end up destroying all of creation.

I'd like to change my answer to cigarettes.
(An advanced civilization could create waffle-flavored cigarettes.)

Don't know for sure. But perhaps something to compare themselves to.

What is the greatest resource in the universe?

"Greatest" or "most valuable?" The thing we seem to have the most of is elbow room. The thing we have the least of (personally) is time.
