As I posted in the WoT forum thread on this subject, the objection of extremist Islamists to these kids is not an objection to "homosexuality" per se, or anything like that. It's to males taking on the sexual roles of women. Fundamentalist Islam, like most forms of religious fundamentalism, is highly misogynistic.

The way they look at it, men are the "victims" of sexual temptations offered by women, or in this case young males. Thus the way they look at it, the boys are the guilty ones.

It's interesting, typically you see pedearsty consistently pop up as a pattern in highly misogynistic societies: ancient Greece, medieval Christian Europe, the Shogunates in Japan - where women are seen as "unworthy" of male attentions and affection, boys are substituted.

Here we see the thing come absurdly full circle, as these boys are killed for "tempting" other wise "good Muslim men" with their salacious ways, much as you'd see a female prostitute killed by religious fanatics in the ancient world (see the stoning of Mary Magdaline)...

You are correct. Another example is the Catholic priesthood. Alot of catholic doctrine shows women in a less than flattering light, and relations with women by priests are forbidden. So they substitute little boys instead.
