Whats the beef with mars?

As most people believe, it looks like life did exist on mars way back when, so what
is the problem with the people that know(if they do) just coming out and admiting it?
Why the big secret? it looks like a dead planet now so why can't they just say
'yep there was life but it died out ages ago'

What are they afraid of? the religion aspect? They dont know enough about the
planet? Maybe they're still there?

If these things aren't the problem, i can't see any reason not to tell us.

It proves aliens existed, so it's basicly a confermation that they probably still exist.

Do you mean exist on mars? I think most people believe they exist in general anyway.

What proof do we have that there was life on Mars, microbes yes, but not life that you are speculating.

All the social/religious issues you speak of obviously would come into play if another species was found elsewhere.
Maybe they are hiding the fact there is something there, or was.

I just meant by the anomalies on the planet, the face and the pyramids.
Whether they are or they aren't i dont know.

We dont have any proof whatsoever at the moment, we never will have unless a LARGE amount of people go there (as in 10,000+). We will always have suspicion, theories and even evidence of life, but never proof until we go there...

The real problem is, what if NASA suddenly released information that there was life. Would anyone believe them? Would WE believe them? I'd smell a hoax immidietly and I'm sure many others would follow suit

I think, the scientists want to know a little more about Mars. Telling whatever the final truth is, expeditions to the Mars would be finalized or stopped. All these expeditions wasted a lot of money.

Thinking that scientists want to know if there is tons of Gold in the surface rocks, are there Diamonds close to the surface, etc.

I think this is what the next mission will be about.
