Thats great and all, but the majority of America is Christian and the current administration is christian. Obviously things are going to be done according to their beliefs. Case in point: stem cell research.

America is a Christian Nation. We suffer on the Cross each day, and are Resurrected each day.

stop, please you are an embarrasment to Christians.

This is why there is such a wave of backlash against 'secular', yes look at that word, 'secular' nations. Its arrogance.

There are several definitions of Great. Most of the majority Christian nations are wealthy, developed, have literally zero povety, and can buy and sell any goods they want, have contributed immensley to inventions and scientific discoveries. I do believe that is the beginnings of a great nation, and they are all also democratic. Bear in mind we should seperate a nation and its government.

The USA is a great nation, but is not a christian nation. Infact, very few nations are real christian nations, maybe the vatican city and the UK could be considered as such.

A better measure is that all great nations are democratic.

The UK is far less Christian than even America. Sure the church has influence in the lords, and there is even a branch of the christian church HQ'd in the UK, but thats about it. Church attendances are rapidly decreasing and the country has become so Liberal and secular, more so than the US IMO.

I don't get how some Christians in the US ramble on about it being Gods chosen nation. Christianity developed in Europe (see all the medievil cathedrals etc) after its initial holy land origin, and then Europeans set us the US, some of them Christian. Its just plan arrogance and ignorance to the rest of the world, and well, history. America is still such a young country and has been the origin of several un-christians things: porn industry etc

madnessinmysoul, Japan is a Christian nation. They did not experience extreme suffering until Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They partly touched the suffering and death on the Cross at this time. Post-WWII, they have been a Christian nation.

The nation that suffers the most on the Cross is the Greatest Nation!!!

Umm, may I ask what your basing claiming a country is
a christian religion on?

'Cause, as I said, less than 10% of the people in Japan
are christiam/catholic.

The majority are either non-religious or in other words
Buddhist/shinto agnoistics, or are buddhist/shinto.

When the majority of a country believes in creationism rather than evolution, it is a christian nation. Sometimes I hate being an american.

LMAO....there are plenty of people that believe in creationism and are not Christians...so this argument is absurd at best.

BTW: Ever heard of separation of church and state?

One can also believe in Christ and evolution. So what do you do with that?

And your comment about hating to be American came out of left field...what does it have to do with the topic??

Name another religion that believes God created the Earth in 6 days and then took a nap on the 7th day. Remember creationism is basically Genesis.

Sometimes I hate being an American when I found out things like the majority of American's believe in creationism. America, the one and only superpower, the most powerful nation in the world, is lagging behind other nations in the field of science because of religion.

Separation between church and state works just fine on paper, but when you place religious individuals in positions of power, they will make decisions based on what their religion has taught them or what they think would be "the right thing" according to a book.

I'm afraid Science hasn't debunked anything, creationism or the actual presense of god. Its is not a closed matter.

I find the Atheists are far more intolerant over the issue than a religious person ever will be.

And I find the opposite to be true. You don't need to be an atheist to believe in evolution or modern theories of the creation of the universe. If anything, believing in the big bang and evolution should only increase your belief in whatever God you like. However, I refuse to believe our current universe is the first, and I refuse to believe humans are the most important race in the universe. That is my quarrel with creationism.

Be that as it may, our christian administration also believes we're somehow killing something that isn't even a human by farming stem cells that would help to improve the standard of living for every human on this planet. We're lagging in science and it isn't because we're not intelligent enough to keep up or continue to surpass our rivals. It's because we're being told not to.

remember the dark ages?

that period where christianity was at its strongest in europe, but it is probably the worst off europe has ever been.

at the same time, the middle east was going through a golden age of art, science, philosophy, trade, etc.

greattech, your theory is debunked.

Well, to be fair, it was the Dark Ages because Rome had self-destructed. Was kind of a big thing back then

well, the implosion of the roman empire was the obvious cause, but it's decline wasn't prevented by the christianization of rome.

Creationism, in its pure form, is the belief that we did not evolve but were created by some higher power. It is not the belief of one religion. Many religions have a creationist belief.....the stories differ...so what? Genisis is one story....one of many.

I don't believe religion is affecting science. I believe the powers that be would like us to think so....but THEY...the Illuminati....the "illuminated ones" have a different agenda for why they are blocking stem cell research. Religion is just used as an excuse to hide behind. The Illuminati make a LOT of money off of BIG PHARMA......There is more money in maintaining a disease than curing it!

What "religious" people are in power?

Interesting post, but Tech you are way off. I am disagreeing with you, as I do know nations like India, an up and coming nation about to leave the third world, and give the US a run for its money is not a christian nation, I believe the major religions in India is Hinduism, Buddhism and Muslim. That be it.

The problem is America's religious fanbase don't follow the sun worshipping version of creationism. Guess which version they follow.

Yes, of course, the Illuminati are responsible for everything. "They" aren't blocking stem cell research in America. Bush is. France will eventually surpass us, because we had a moron for a president. Stop blaming everything on shadow organizations. People have the ability to make choices, and it was Bush's choice to block it.

If you really don't know what religious people are in power, you should stop posting.

sdcigarpig, I do believe India is an up and coming nation, and God Bless Them For It. However, Christian nations might be growing in progression at a faster rate, so that there is even a greater differential created.

Part of the Mysteriousness of Christianity is the necessity to suffer with extremely hard work to make a Nation Great. We all must suffer on the Cross to be called one of the sons of the Infinitely Great God. Only when we suffer immensely can we fully appreciate God's Infinitely Great Work. And with suffering, God Creates Blessings!!!
