Hard to be a conservative

<<  1    2  >>

Is it just me because I have noticided for quite some time that if you are conservative on this website you are attacked and bashed at every turn. If you say you support Israel you are attacked, if you support Iraq you are attacked and accused of supporting killers and theives.

It's not that being a conservative is hard, it's just being a liberal is too easy! No thought required!

Or it could be because everything you listed is true. Not that I care. I'm what some might call an opportunist.

Yes, it can be difficult or annoying, etc. to be a conservative around here reading posts from some people. But, I think our presence is required to keep things balanced and stop the liberal duck-speak from totally taking over

It works both ways!! If You like I can dredge up some of the threads where liberals were called "tulip walkers" traitors, terrorist sympathizers, bush bashers, pinkos, etc.

Just quit whining; what ever your ideology. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch or go over to some board where everyone is on the same page.

It's the "edge" that makes this such a stimulating site. VIVA ATS, PTS!!!

You demonstrated that you are a republican partisan, but you've provided nothing to demonstrate that you are a conservative. A lot of republicans run around claiming to be conservatives, but they are nothing other than faith based social democrats with a hawkish bent. It is these guys that are giving real conservatives a bad name.

Why do you think you are a conservative?

You want proof i am a conservative. Let's see I support bush, want to secure the border, don't believe in the 9/11 conspiracy. That should be enough.

Securing our borders is a conservative issue, however I dont think the other two are a fit. Bush is republican, but he is in no way a conservative. Belief or disbelief in the official 9/11 story has nothing to do with political ideology.

Perhaps you could expand more on your views about government economic policy. At this point Im still unconvinced that you are a conservative.

Do you even know what a conservative is. From Websters.
conservative

typified by a lack of flamboyance: cautious: reserved or moderate-i one who is reserved or moderate in manner.

Hardly what i would call someone who supports Bush, or even Bush himself!

conservatism

n a policy that advocates moderation, or opposition to change.

Yeh thats Bush and his cronies to a tee!

Edit, sorry bad punctuation.

A conservative like me believes America doesn't need drastic changes and only needs minor ones.

It is good to ask questions but you are right I wouldn't call them minor but most aren't that massive of changes.

Giving away tax payers dollars to aide foreign governments and engaging in nation building is not in line with traditional conservative doctrine. The unbridled spending on foreign aide & the military is completely contrary to conservative economic principles. The only real conservative in the entire republican congress is Ron Paul. Im not sure how to label the rest of these legislators, but I am quite sure they are not conservative.

This thread would have been better titled "Hard To Find A Conservative".

Conservatives are suppose to spend little, and have a small government. Yet under Bush he has spent more money then any other president and has expanded the government to an all new mega size. So, Bush is not a conservative.

Bill CLinton was more of a conservative, and is known as the best republican in office since Reagan by some when it came to economics. Bush? He's been the greatest Communist/Socialist giving BILLIONS OF TAX PAYER DOLLARS TO OIL COMPANIES. That's right, he gives Government money to Oil COmpaines, sounds like a COmmie/Socialist to me. Isn't Capitalism about survival of the fittest companies, not being given billions by them government?

Exactly, so all of these bush supporters that claim to be conservatives are really nothing more than corporate socialists slandering the conservative ideology with their claims of being conservative. The sad part is that the educational system in the US has so dumbed down these phoney conservatives that they truely believe that they are conservative. However to be fair, the liberal threads seems to be filled with phoney liberals that aren't liberal, but believe that they are.

Conservatism can be activist if the active steps taken are to roll back changes made by previous liberal governments.

I'm liberal Democrat, and I support Israel. Democrats support Israel. Most liberals support Israel. A clear majority of the American people support Israel.

That issue's a non starter.

It's the wingnuts who don't, but we have them both parties, and we usually try to shudder them away, like that crazy, drunken Aunt at Christmas, don't we?

Ok Spinstop, why are you conservative? It can't be because you support Bush because he is a liberal. If you supported someone like, hmmm, trying to think of a non-neoconservative that is just a puppet to the NWO... Michael Badnarik, but he isn't in power anywhere, but still a conservative.

John McCain before Bush43 would have been a good choice, but now Bush43 has ruined him. Same with Colin Powell. I think TOm Delay was actually conservative but he's going to jail and blah blah blah so not going to use him.
