isn't it odd that the u.s. g decided to build it's primary nuclear waste dump site within 100 miles of las vegs? granted this also places it next
to the nuclear test site/area 51. but are there other reasons?

It sounds though that this is an environmental issue.
Maybe fragile earth is a better placce for this.

Since the San Andreas fault is several hundred miles from Yucca Mtn, NV, I would say very little chance of a major San Andreas rupture affecting the
nuclear repository.
Yucca was chosen not because it was the safest geological or environmental location, it was chosen because it was the safest political location.
