Voting is compulsory in Australia, i dont find it to be a problem, you dont even have to vote merely turn up and have your name crossed off. The fine for not voting at all is insignificant. Those who criticise their govts and have never voted have no argument imo. You can only change that which you actively participate in.

DTOM, yes that is exactly what I mean. I hope it's just a fiction of my mind. But I doubt it.
If we glance at totalitarian states such as China, the former Cambodian regime, Congo, Rwanda, Russia and the former Soviet states, and Cuba, we see people who have been conditioned to support their counties. Granted all mentioned have been overtaken by force. but still people in time submit to what ever condition they are engulfed in.

It all seems like mass hypnosis, I can't explain it. Is the human race just in general self destructive, unconscious, genetically engineered to accept status quo as the safest stand-point?
