Np it was definately worth a try

X = 1467.344 = something that doesnt matter
Y = -4401.76 = 6637 (sin theta)(sin phi)
Z = 4361.07 = 6367 (cos phi)

Solving for phi and theta you get (roughly):

phi = -71.5
theta = 46.8

-71.5, 46.8

These coordinates are right about south georgia, nova scotia.

Also of interest, in case I screwed up, the reverse gives a spot in antarctica.

EDIT: I read somewhere something about (0,0,6367) being spherical for North Pole. That's how you get the first equations.

still could be a triangle I believe. you can get three pair of (x, y) coordinates from the three that are given

Don't know for sure though, but seems plausible

I don't know if this is of any significance, but when I searched for 'sphere' and 'magellan', the only other thread besides this one that showed up was this:

And actually I was wrong, the town nearest the coords appears to be Sainte-Foy ... can't find anything on it though.

Originally posted by michaelanteski In fact, much more recent evidence from such sources as the Magellan space project have established that Venus has many very strange anomalies suggesting that it has a different cosmic history than Earth and other planets in the solar system.

I found two posts by this guy referencing Venus, Magellan and some Valiskiskieksi or something or other.

and now I'm leaving.

Fiverz,
My trusty globe seems to put those coordinates in Quebec, not Nova Scotia. There's a town there called Chicoutimi.

I googled ATS for "quebec ufo" and found a thread about the Raelians.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

No leads there that I could notice.

Look 4 posts up

I narrowed it down a bit more to -71.51, 46.77 ... its west-southwest of Quebec ... I can't find a town name though.

Why are you so quick to dismiss the X?

When I entered those coordinates to the tool found here I get W71 33 36 and N43 13 54 ... which is right on "Daniel Webster Hwy" near Concord, New Hampshire...
Googling with "Daniel Webster Hwy" and UFO resulted with this article which is quite recent!

I dunno if it means anything or not but since I suck in all mathematicks I dunno if I'm even on the right planet...

Hahaha. I like the logic of discarding parts of the clue. Its worked up to this point!

Did you put the negative sign in for your "y"? If so those are very similar to mine (-71.51, 46.77).

The reason it doesnt matter is because you are just trying to find two angles, theta and phi. X has an equation involving both, but you don't need to solve it because in the "Z" coordinate you can just solve for phi and then plug that into the Y coordinate. Theta and phi equate to latitude and longitude. I had a link but I lost it ... I'll search again.

That is if my math is still working right in my brain.

Could the decimals be used to throw us off?

What if the numbers were:

1467344
-440176
436107

Look like points to me.

www.math.montana.edu... is what I used ... only the site already had ro=6367 (north pole coordinates). That's how I got my equations. If someone wants to check my math, feel free ... I haven't done this stuff in 5 or 6 years.

Wow, you guys have been blazin' thru the clues today.

Considering the ATS.com 'sphere' might refer to TinWiki, I've been searchin' in there for a while, but no luck.

just thought I'd throw that reference into the pot.

Good Idea but that many points would mean serious posting and the points are fluid.

Unless It's an account set up just for the game.

Or, the key is used to decode the coordinates to something more realistic. Magellan could then refer to GPS. The last coordinate, if that is what it is, bothers me. Why would altitude be important?
