I'm entering in things that could be marked "made in centaurus" ... engines, plane parts, etc. That's the only way I can read that line that makes sense to me.

A google search for "Centaurus" and "Limited" finds quite a few companies with the name "Centaurus" which produce various things. See:

But wouldn't any of their products be marked "Made by Centaurus" rather than "Made in Centaurus"??

By the way, I've read quite a bit of science fiction but don't recall off the top of my head any plot in which "made in Centaurus" was marked on an object...

How about a famous SETI reception from Centaurus?

Did that famous signal come from there? I forgot what it was called.

ahh.. the 'WoW' signal ... ok so the reference I read said the source was unknown.

Well this is all speculation anyways, but you wouldn't say "made BY U.S.A." you'd say "made in U.S.A." ... I was going under the assumption that maybe its something marked as such, made somewhere in the system.

Vague, I know, but the sentence just doesn't make much sense to me in any other context (unless it's a partial quote from the middle of a sentence).

I was working on this for hours last night and "from the book" never appeared. After catching up today I cleared cookies and now I get the phrase. I think its meant to help , but how? I did searches of the bible , got nothing.

Maybe something from Project Blue BOOK.

Gonna see if there is the report has been published online.

I'm finally getting "(from the book)" now too.

Can a few other people verify that it is now coming up all the time?

I think the period behind 'the' is errant. It makes sense if you take it out. Centaurus
would be capitilized seeing as how it's a name.

And it is.. you can see on the original scan that it was a speck on the paper. Probably
a small error on whomever transcribed the paper to screen.
